New to all this. watching some headlamp reviews now. You're one of the few reviewers who actually shows what it looks like IN THE DARK! Thank you.

This is the exact video I needed to watch, as an avid outdoorsman who's so tired with over priced junk that is unreliable. Thank you for your time and research

This is the exact video I needed. You actually gave your opinion on the best one and justified it. That’s good enough for me. I’m tired of watching headlamp videos that don’t actually give a recommendation. For me, I do not want a rechargeable, I routinely hunt on extended length trips with no way to recharge. Thanks again! Black Diamond ordered via link provided.

I bought 4 of those el-cheapo "2 for 20.00" a few years ago, one failed, the others still run. And im hard on things. 😂

I have the black diamond, it’s FANTASTIC, I accidentally ran it through the washer and the dryer and works perfectly, have used it in heavy rain and snow. Just keeps going.

Believe it or not I don't have any of these. I buy about three lights a year for work. The lenses get scratched up all the time. I usually pay about $40 per light. I figure about twenty years with three lights a year. I get free batteries at work. .
My favorite brand tends to be Petzel. I can walk about four blocks away from were I live and There is always about 4-5 different lights available at a backpacking store.

Believe it not when I'm hunting I use the simplest light available with only one light on it. When I'm at work the brighter the better

A well detailed, comprehensive review. I was deciding between the Petzl and Black diamond and Petzl won out to to its similarity of what I have been using for years, but after this video, I think a Black diamond is in the future. Well done sir.

thanks for the reviews, fantastic and comprehensive. I have been researching green lights and lights for my hunting ebike. I am going to try the everbite (which i was already considering) and the black diamond.

Black diamond makes pretty good headlamps I got a 35$ one and it rocks, only downside is it runs on batteries and isnt rechargeable, and it doesn’t have red/green modes but it’s not a necessity for my uses

Very good review 👏 thats the way they should be compared. I'm like you, I think the 500 R would be my pick over the 450. Again congratulations on a good review.

Hope you get to try the Sofirn line of headlamps. The H05B model is a good one.

Been using the amazon cheap light regularly for 3 or 4 years - it has held together well despite daily use and only the last few months the battery is not so long lasting. I will be buying a couple more and might try fitting some new batteries in the old ones.

Red light also doesn't attract bugs like normal so on a warm night if your working outside late, red light is really nice to have to prevent getting swarmed.

This was a great review man! Seriously nice job! I watch a lot of light reviews for fun and your up there in quality for what most people need and want to know without getting to into the weeds as some do. I have both the Black Diamond and the Fenix. Ill say this, they are both great lights and you nailed all the pros and cons imo. Two opinions that ive developed after using both for a good while. The Fenix has a simpler user interface to remember and the build quality is definitely better. Unfortunately my Black Diamond developed a crack in the corner of the lens face at some point some how. Not sure when it happened and it still works fine but im a bit disapointed as I dont recall doing anything harsh to it to cause it to crack. I do really like all the light mode flexibility of the Black Diamond for sure. But the rechargeable nature of the Fenix in adition to being able to use a CR123 if need be puts it as my #1. The Black Diamond is a solid #2 for me out of all the headlamps ive tried over the years which is a lot.

I have the Nebo which is surprising and very light to carry. I also have the petzl aria 1 which is, as you say, nothing outstanding, but in my view really solid and reliable.

I have a lot of headlamps. The ones that are currently available that I use the most are: (1) the Olight Perun 2 Mini, a lot of pros to this light, has a bright 40 lumen red mode similar to the Fenix you showed. Some artifacts in the red beam, but I'm just glad to have it. About the only con, I wish they had also included a lower red mode, in addition to the bright red and bright red strobe. Any way this is a great EDC right angle flashlight or headlamp, small and comfortable. If you get it on sale, then it would be in your price range. [It will also charge in the Olight Baton 4 charging case so you have light for a long time and the charging case can also be used to charge your phone.] (2) The Fenix H65 -T, there is a newer model. No red though, at least not in my model. The magnesium body shaves off enough weight to make this 18650 headlamp comfortable. (3) The $16 Tri-Headbeam Maratac - Collab. For the price and that it runs on 2 x AA batteries it is a good little headlamp. Red and blue (3 lumens) are operated my the shorter of the two buttons. Compare it to its sibling the Wuben H3. Carry some spare batteries. I immediately removed the alkaleaks that Wuben supplied them with to CountyComm and changed them to some hybrid rechargeable batteries, eneloop or the Ikea LADDA equivalent. The red is fine for close-up but I would not plan on going navigating by it. The latch closing the battery compartment might be a weak point.
Thanks for the comparison video.

I have the Nebo and I wear it on my watch strap. It’s not perfect in that position, but it does work when fixing something under your sink, for example. Seriously, I think Nebo should come out with a watch strap specific model. Huge possibilities there for workmen/women.

They lose brightness the longer you use them, thats the way LED are, I have the cheap amazon ones, had them for about 3 years now and still work well but they do lose brightness, when that happens i cycle to the next bright level, and so on, once they are off the level thats dying, you can soon switch it back to it again. hope that makes sense
