In response to trade protectionism, it should be prohibited to invest in building EV factories in Europe, so that they can only buy expensive EVs.

Well, passed to consumers and paid as tariffs. Essentially a tax on EU consumers and higher prices to make it less attractive.

China should retaliate on luxury, alcohol and automotive sector, by putting 50% tariff on luxury, alcohol and automotive import from EU.

EU: Let’s impose a 35% tariff on all Chinese EVs to protect our automobile industry.

While the three biggest car makers go:

BMW: no tariff plz it hurt us more
Mercedes: we would like to compete with auto brands from China
VW: no tariff please…

Doesn’t this make people wonder why countries with the least automobile interest wanted higher tariffs? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Can you see the dishonesty? Whenever EU increases the tariffs is unfair. When China is raising tariffs is anti-dumping. In fact, no Chinese automaker is profitable. EU applying anti-dumping laws is legitimate. The anti-dumping laws in Europe are decades old. The curious should read them.

So could EU imports and rebrands Chinese cars and pay the 45% tariff, and then sell them to the US and Canada, to avoid the 100% tariff on Chinese cars?

EU shouldn't pretend to be environmentalist.
