Could you imagine being a 5 year old boy in Cleveland back in 1957 and seeing an NKP S-2 Berkshire go past you just that close? I did, and it's still a fond memory 55 years later. What I wouldn't give to sit in the cab of 765 just once before my time on earth is done.

Very impressive and enjoyable sight to see two preserved steam locomotives of the same "Berkshire" class double heading together on the same train, it's a pleasure to see steam engines operating in the modern era and this is a special representation of historic railroad operations during the 1940s-50s of the late stage steam era.

Man, when these two twins are together, they are amazing.

Long live the two famous Berkshire Twins, PM 1225 and NKP 765.

Friendly reminder to all people criticizing the "mass pollution" these locos are creating that:
1. This is a photo charter, this is being done for the cameras and are only being done in 30-90 second intervals
2. Most steam locomotives (at least in the US) run on oil now (some even on waste veggie oil).
3. These types of locomotives aren't a major pollution factor, they haven't been since the late 50's. There are, however, thousands of cars on the road and factories around the world that pollute way more than these.

Oh, man! Fabulous sights, and fabulous sound! Esp the near perfect synch in the two driver sets during the side-by-side. Those guys have to be tops to do that! The NKP Road ran just west of the town line in my hometown growing up (Oberlin, OH). I got ride my bike out that way more or less anytime I wanted to and watch loco's like these for as long as they ran them on that line. I loved seeing all this then, but didn't know how totally special this was, once it all became memories. I miss steam!!

Fantastic! I visited Owosso in 2005. Great welcome from all the people at SRI. That's me in the driver's seat.

I just remember steam too as a tiny 3 year old boy in Northamptonshire in 1967 watching 4-6-0s on passenger & 2-8-0s and 2-10-0s on freights:-) Magic stuff:-)

I have been in the cab of both of those locomotives, the 765 is housed just about 7 miles from where i live, in Fort Wayne Indiana, When i moved to Fort Wayne in 1983, the 765 was sitting in a park, just rusting away, It wasnt long after they took her out to newhaven In, just east of Fort Wayne, and restorded her.

I have always said I hate modern steamers but good god this is the best steam show ever: no diesels with a mix match consist, nothing around to take away from that ww2 era feel, no flickering as seen in old films of trains in the 50s, authentic sound. A steam fan's best friend
