Thanks tracklib, this one was stumping me

It's such a simple flip that I'm surprised it wasn't already sampled by someone else notable. Thoughts on Harlow aside, Fergie is doing 99% of the heavy lifting that makes this track work.

When it's 11:45 and your sample is due at noon

Feels like that song should’ve been sampled long ago. Such an easy layup. Props to Harlow for actually doing it.

Thank god I saw this video, like everyone else in the world i had NO idea what this song was sampling

Man, they botched this flip. Fergie was out there literally giving him an alphabet to work with. He could have rearrange them and spelled out Mogul, Mor Ass, Gloom, Moral, Orgasm, I O U ASS (Fergie says “I” elsewhere in the song), all number of options. There’s a thousand ways they could have taken it and they just…didn’t do anything with this flip. Mfers act like they never played Wordle or Bananagrams. They should have called me. Harlow, if you’re in need of interesting flips, just let me know.

Edit: None of this is to say simple flips cannot be good or interesting. Half the process is just being able to listen to a piece of music and have the vision for what other ways it could be used.

We didn’t need a sample breakdown for this one. Thanks.

I love when the sample finishes the lyrics

Never thought I would hear this song flipped into new school rap

Next sample breakdowns will be Vanilla Ice’s groundbreaking flip of Under Pressure, as well as Beyonce’s flip of Pon De Floor 🔥

The sample is basic. But the simple beats are the future beats. No need to flex the producers talent on the beat, just to leave a room for artist to rap. First Class💎✨

I saw someone say that while it was a simple flip, it introduced a whole new generation to fergie. Hell, we all know the song, but his fan base might not have.

I was skeptical but the flip starts sounding so amazing at 0:57

Once again, a great video from Tracklib. But this is one of the laziest samples I have ever heard 😭

I love the idea of take other song and making them into new songs.

Ah yes, self-proclaimed hip hop producer gods with zero placements showing their snobbery in the comments. Uh, yeah guys, being straightforward about the sample was the entire intention - the infectious part WAS the nostalgia, that's the purpose of maintaining the same hook melody via vocal sample, and instead going a new direction with the underlying instrumentation and energy of the song. You COULD chop it in many other ways, but it wouldn't have the same effect of "old but new" to the audience who remembers growing up to the song. Please share your "better" version ideas, we will all wait for this Preemo mastery of a Fergie song, lmao.

you could say that that sample breakdown was indeed first class

You know you're getting old when a track you grew up on is getting sampled.
