When I was 16 we had a boy with cerebral palsy in our group. He wanted to see the Lake Worth Dam up close but there was only a hiking trail that lead to it. I carried him to it. If you know the place you know it's steep. His brother and sister carried his wheel chair. On the way back I had given all I could, it was the first time my Myasthenia Gravis symptoms appeared. I got so weak I couldn't move and collapsed half way up the hill. His brought and sister were young and couldn't help. Out of nowhere a huge man on a horse came down over the hill and put me on his horse and carried our friend all the way back up. As we were putting him back in his wheel chair this cowboy rode over the hill and was gone. We looked for him and could not see or hear him and we were on top of a lookout. That was 1978. I will never forget it. I believe in angels.

I've always been a believer, but it wasn't until a year ago that I started on my real journey.
Every time I would question and start down a new path seeking truth and wisdom, I'm lead right back to Jesus and the Bible. Every single time.

What Dr.Mike is saying seems to be right in line with what I've learned from the Bible. Thank you.

Dr. Heiser, you are so gracious and yet at the same time very patiently explaining to him the truth about Angels. He's young and doesn't understand. He wants an experience to feel he's special in his feelings and encounters. Again you stopped him with his assumptions. Still wanting to put his finger in the pool of the Occult...

I love listening to you two discuss the Bible. Thank you both. You're inspiring. God bless.

I love what he says at 10:51 . He said we smash all the terms together i.e. angel, cherub, seraph.... Our translations do that with hell and love also. It's truly aggravating. This leads to horrible assumptions, for example; all angels have wings. Great video. ❤️ 💯

God bless you guys. Great discussion.
STEVEN if you want to hear scripture taught chapter by chapter verse by verse and faithful to the whole of scripture here are some I listen too: Chuck Smith, Greg Laurie, Jack Hibbs, Tom Hughes, Barry Stagner-- these are all calvary chapel pastors.
What I have come to understand is that seeking an experience is not a good idea. We seek the Lord, His Word, His face...we may have the spirit fall on us but seeking an EXPERIENCE can be dangerous. And I do believe in the gifts of the spirit and I've had a vision of Jesus or NDE...BUT IT WAS JUST GOD...I WASNT SEEKING AN EXPERIENCE.
and if there are manifestations with no purpose like feathers, gold dust or leaky bibles...steer clear folks. God's spirit always glorifies Jesus
God bless you guys. You both are very intelligent and a blessing as you seek to impart the truth

Angel's very often appear like ordinary folk in extraordinary situations. It happened to me, to others in my family. After the situation you KNOW...that person was placed there for you.

I might have an encounter with an angel. A huge guy protected me from getting beat up and basically disappeared, there more details than that.

I mean it could have been a person. It was just a weird situation

Folks need to be careful with this stuff, it can quickly get out of hand.
Years ago when I was in my early twenties I overheard a middle aged woman and a girl in her teens (Who I assume was her daughter) ecstatic and convinced that I was a celestial being, because I got their car to start.
The story in brief is that I was walking home from a "Drive Thru" (like a little grocery store that you drive your car through) to get a Coke and a pack of Camels.
I had to pass a laundry mat to get back to my apartment when I noticed the two unable to get their car to start.
I offered to help, and they popped their hood. I quickly noticed that their battery cable was loose and I pulled out my leatherman and tightened the cable to the post. All the while the two women were in a quasi panic at their situation and were trying to figure out how they were going to fix their car, and not really paying attention to what I was doing and apparently convinced that their car was just done for.
Tightening the cable took maybe 15 seconds in total.
I asked them to start their car and it fired up. The older of the two was nearly in tears and wanted to thank me, and turned her back to me to look for her purse to give me money (I think assuming that I was hard up for cash because I tended to dress in ripped up Jean's and old flannels, had super long hair and a big bushy beard.)
While her back was turned and she was telling the younger to grab her purse for her I slipped around the corner to go on back to my apartment which was literally the next building over.
As I was not at all far away literally no more than 15 foot distant as I had just went around the corner of the building of the laundry mat. I overheard the two of them getting excited.
It seems she thinks I magically both fixed her car by just touching it, (Cause the tightening only took a few seconds) then vanished into thin air. (As they did not see me go around the corner.)
In hindsight I should have come back around to show them that I was not in fact an Angelic being, but I neither wanted the awkward "Heres some money", "No you keep it" conversation, and at the time I thought, to myself "well them thinking they had celestial encounter might give them comfort in the future."
It was wrong of me not to set the record straight and it is something that I twenty years later wish I could correct.
I hope that my stupid decision then, did not lead them down a New Age path later.

Thank you so much for this capsule on angelic encounters. I was fed those types of stories by many and even had some of those myself but never used it to pop my platform or wrote a book about it. These encounters were angels (in the form of men) waking me up to pray for different people I was counselling at the time and were in dangerous situations. I never understood the big deal around that subject in the first place other than pumping up their credibility or credentials. In Canada, it is becoming overwhelmingly popular to have these types of churches, that formerly were more conservative and about being Bible based to what it is called spiritualistic in nature, stamping on it the 'experiential Presence of God'. Being a former Newager myself, I see these types of New Age teaching every where in the church now. I am really sad about that and all I find to do is praying about it and study Micheal S. Heiser materials and other scholars to make sure I am not, myself, led off track. It is with tremendous fear and trembleling that I make sure to know the Word of God. Because I love Him and I don't want to be found unfaithful so I keep my eyes in His Word.

One good way of determining whether a ministry, or else, a 'so called' manifestation is of God or not is by inspecting its fruit. I previously spent 18 years (1994-2012) in 2 churches that were in the "renewal". I went to Toronto several times, Rick Joyner's church a couple of times, plus our church very regularly hosted the "rock stars" of the movement, which would invariably draw huge crowds of visitors to our church each time. Having experienced all that, I can say without hesitation that the number one result of this whole thing was people generally having no interest in the foundational truths and missions of scripture (such as evangelism, discipleship etc.), but rather the chief result was what I came to refer to as "The Bless Me Club". That is to say...the people would do nothing more than go from meeting to meeting, and conference to conference chasing after this and that speaker, so that they could have another manifestation experience...another "blessing". Personally speaking, although I was constantly surrounded by people "manifesting" I never experienced any of the things that others around me were experiencing. As time passed, I grew more and more suspicious of it all, and eventually left the church, having since come to reject the whole, so called "renewal" as unbiblical and heretical. I recognize that most of the people involved are sincere...however, they are sincerely wrong!

My mom said she encountered an angel when she was giving birth to me. She was having trouble giving birth. The doctor and nurses left the room and an old nurse came in and wrapped something around her stomach and told my mom to push. My mom said, “The doctors said not to push.” The lady said, “those doctors don’t know what they are talking about.” So my mom pushed. When she did, everyone came back into the room. Checked my mom and said, “Oh look, you are ready to have this baby!” She looked around for the old lady, and she was gone.

I assume the spiritual being who used to sit on the hood of my junky old car when I commuted 55 miles to work was an angel. I only saw him a few times and only with spiritual eyes. He was huge and I only perceived his back and shoulders and arms with hands holding on to the sides of the hood. It was a car that the hood latch was unreliable. Once we replaced my car I never saw him again. Oh, and there were no wings.

What was never actually addressed is what is the role of an angel in the life and ministry of the Church. The Bible makes it clear that they are ministers, not just messengers, regardless of the terminology. However, this interview advertises itself as clearing up what the real purpose of angels in relation to humanity is and they never got there.... I believe part of the problem is that it would mostly be arguments from silence or speculation.

For the record, I would definitely want to test the kind of ministers Mr. Bancarz is referring to, not by their claimed experience, but by their conduct, their fruit, and their doctrine in other key areas.
Implying that what the Bible says about angels is the whole of their reality is unrealistic.
The early Church expected to experience and interact with angels on one level or another. Forming a theology or practice that venerates them is a form of idolatry, no question, but what did the early Church understand that the main line North American evangelical Church is missing in our skepticism?

Maybe some of this is covered in part 3,
Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies,  but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil."Bless you.

We need to be talking about these “ministers” by name so that nobody else gets deceived by them. One of them is Brian Guerin from Bridal groom ministries. Not sure who are the other ones are yet...

I think that Steve really needs to watch out about messing around in the things that he was doing. That can be very dangerous. It can be very arrogant to think that you can just go and try to do a test to see what happens. When God says no... That means no.
