"Amleto" by Palaia Filarmoniki Etaireia Kerkyras (the oldest and biggest music band of Corfu). The Old Music Band was established in 1840! Now the conductor of the Band is Spiros Prosoparis. The previous conductor and leader of the band was Dimitris Kafiris. On Holy Friday the band played "Mother's pain" by D.Kafiris.
The most famous and expected musical composition at Easter in Corfu is the "Amleto" by the Old Music Band. "Amleto" (Hamlet) was written in Genoa in 1865 by an italian composer and conduntor Franco Faccio (1840-1891). Nowadays few bands dare to play this difficult composition. In Greece The Old Music Band of Corfu is honoured to play it on Holy Saturday at Easter.
