The Strand is a fantastic bookstore. It’s been too long since I lasted visited NYC. Is the basement of books still open?

Thanks for the tour. I was recently in The Strand and Barnes & Noble at Union Square. The Strand shelves were depleted. This was downstairs. I asked what happened? They said they had been renting out whole sections to businesses and the theater for show. The astronomy, sciences, and philosophy sections were depleted. Barnes & Noble in these same subject areas were depleted as well. Very sad. I have been going into these stores for years. I live in Queens, NYC.
