Alaska Raptor Center Sitka Bald Eagle

The immediate head turn for the word salmon was perfect. Spirit is such a great name for her. There is such a beautiful connection between the birds and handlers at your center.

When I was stationed in Alaska I used to go sit by Eagle River and watch them fish. Seeing a bald eagle dive out of the sky and pluck a 20 pound salmon out of the water is probably the coolest thing ever.

I see Bald Eagles where I live on occasion and their size is incredible. You can see one clearly in a field from quite a distance. They are beautiful birds.

was working in Sitka and half the town came out to watch a fully recuperated eagle released by the raptor center back in 95. Amazing to witness

I've never seen one next to a human- it really makes you appreciate how HUGE they are and their wingspan!!! What a gorgeous creature. I love you Spirit!

I hung out with a random hawk once. It let me get close enough to pet it. Opened its wings wide and just walked around me. We chilled for about 15 mins before it flew off. Still have no idea why it was so trusting but made for a great memory.

An absolutely beautiful unit of a raptor! And MAD props to her handler, she did an amazing job at being attentive to her bird and ALSO did an amazing job at explaining to the audience what her girl(bird) is doing and how she's feeling. Not just educational but so affectionate and respectful to the animal she's handling. 💚💚💚 Great job to both the handler and the animal!

I love how the wing is over her neck like a person would put their arm around somebody. These two definitely have a special bond. And what an incredibly beautiful bird! So glad they’re finally protected.
