Gideon Pocket New Testament w/ Psalms & Proverbs

Quick look at some Gideon pocket New Testaments with Psalms & Proverbs. The copies I picked up are in the ESV and NKJV translations.

I love these. I am Roman Catholic and can't remember how I got a hold of one, but I had the orange one and kept it in my pants pocket daily for maybe a year or more. That little bible pulled me through a very hard time in my life. I would just open to the psalms and read through as my night time prayer.

This popped up on my video feed and I thought it was uncanny because today, while cleaning out a box of stuff I came across my Gideon pocket New Testaments with Psalms & Proverbs. I had written my name and the date when I received it on the inside. Dated 10-27-1983. Must be a sign that I need to delve into it again. I plan on adding it to my daily reading plan. Thanks for sharing.

Came here after watching several channels that primarily feature premium leather Bibles. Of course that has its place too, but this channel is a refreshing change of pace. Thanks for doing these!

I love the premise of your channel. New Bibles are so very expensive. Buying one at a thrift store is an attainable option for people. Plus, one can find nice, used Bibles there.

My favorite Gideon memory is that once a year the Gideons stood in front of our seminary trying to hand out these NTs to students. Just for the record, we were learning how to read the Bible...in Greek and Hebrew...there. They cracked me up every year.
And I love your review. Best use of a tape measure in a Bible review ever.

I appreciate the concept of this channel.

I was given a new testament at my elementary school by the Gideons in 1972.

A couple times, they were handing them out at my university after class registration (ca 1979-1982).
I have 3 KJV and one Revised Berkeley Version (a version I was otherwise unfamiliar with).
Still have all of them.

The green new testament psalms proverbs is the best one to read it is powerful to me I love to read it 😊

I got one of those Gideon pocket bible from the mental hospital it didn't cost me nothing it was given to me from the chaplen .

They used to provide these for free when I was at school and I am sure some of it must have sunk in by ozmosis but I used mine as an accompaniment to crime fiction Conan Doyle, Christie, James Sayers Peters, Dexter Mankell, Rankin and many more. Not sure if that would be sanctioned by Gideon but where else would I learn The Moving Finger Writ as they only taught the greatest hits at school so you had to find out about the Book of Daniel or Psalm 11 from crime fiction or I did anyway.

1) Little Free Library for your "excess" bible acquisitions is a terrific idea.
2) I've hear you say the NASB and ESV are not your preferred translations. Here you spoke fondly of the NKJV; is that your favorite? If not, do you mind saying which translation you prefer?
