I'm now getting into the Atelier series and your videos and reviews helped me a lot when deciding what to choose. Thank you Ircha. Btw, your videos and channel have improved very much since the beginning. Keep it up!

My favourite RPG series - they have important to mention key features which are not advertised or written on any informational material across almost everyone of the games. You may read about it in tutorial messages, but those are very long and barely anyone i know actually read all of them. You can explore the world in the pace that you like, you can interact with lots of people, explore lots of regions that slowly unlock throughout the game by hearing about them from NPCs or finding maps. There is one crucial limit tho - playtime. You see a clock and calendar on the screen at all times, and everytime you do something that takes the character some time to do ingame - like crafting from complex receips or sleeping you see the clock move. There is no real UI indication of the "deadline", but if you follow all the conversations carefully, NPCs will eventually tell you. So don't ever skip conversations you've not seen yet. For example in the Arland Trilogy this mechanic is used in tests, where your main character has to undergo one or several alchemy exams for example. The only exception i know of is Atelier Sophie, that's the only game where you could literally play a whole lifetime and still progress the story at your own pace. It's also the best looking of them all on the PS Vita, in my opinion. The lineup ends with Atelier Sophie on PS Vita, only PS4 and PC have Firis and the newest one - Lydie and Suelle. Lydie and Suelle is also available on Nintendo Switch and i'm very positive that Switch gets a new one once its released and also might get older Trilogies. How well you do in those tests, with whom you speak, what quests you solve and how fast you are also determines which ending you will get. Normally there are three endings - failure or neutral ending, good ending and special ending. So in really harsh games you can actually fail after a whole playthrough, basically a bad ending and have to either have an old save or start over. If you are satisfied with your ending you can continue playing in some of the games and go for different optional bosses spread throughout the lands. They also have New Game Plus, which is indicated by a change of the background artwork of the start menu once you beat the game with one of the endings being played out and credits had rolled. A new feature of the newest Trilogy - the Mysterious Trilogy - is that there are also hidden regions to unlock within a region by either walking up to something that looks suspiciously out of place or just being there at a certain time of day. Time of day also plays a role, night and day have different monster types and items on most of the maps. As you might see, i just love these games. x3 In my opinion with Mysterious Trilogy now concluded they are ready for the biggest Atelier game yet, enough people know of it now that this could very well be "Gust's Monster Hunter World" with millions sold at release while previously being more of a niche franchise.

Awesome. I'm aware of the Atelier series as my ex was obsessed with 'em years back. There's so many games in that damn series that it's hard to keep track. I don't think they'd be my cup of tea, but they have a big fan base. I commend that. :)
Great video! :)

I LOVE the Atelier series. I've played all of Arland, All of Dusk, Played Sophie, and playing Firis. I'm SO HYPED for Lydie and Souer. I've also started Iris because I wanted to try the older ones; really good so far! My least favorite has to be Totori. (it was my first tho hehe) I don't enjoy some of the gameplay mechanics, it felt kinda unbalanced and a bit too difficult, but love the game anyway! AWESOME review too, you've earned a sub :D

I actually got into this series from Mana khemia student alliance on the psp. I do like that despite their cute factor, these games can challenge you quite a bit. The post game in mana khemia is quite tough and I even heard that the dlc of escha and logy has the toughest boss in the series. I'll attempt to beat that boss one day, but I need a new playthrough to prepare lol.

I appreciate your effort to explain the game franchise to newcomers. All the information in this video is stuff that I found through a Google search. Rather than factual stuff, I am more interested in a comparison of the gameplay systems like the alchemy system and how it plays differently between each game. Also, compare combat and story in the games, as well. "I like this one" doesn't tell me anything because I don't know what kind of gamer you are compared to myself. It's best to present the information on the story, alchemy and combat from each game and let the viewer decide which they like. I'm also curious about the time mechanic in these games. How does it affect the gameplay? I know the time limit is removed from Atelier Shallie but it is present in the first two games of the trilogy so Atelier Shallie might be a better place to start for gamers who find time limits to be frustrating. Talk about the differences between the PS3 and "plus" versions like what content is included because from what I read, more content was added to Atelier Shallie Plus than was added to previous games. Please also inform viewers about which games are available in physical format and which region because for Vita users, only Atelier Shallie Plus is available physically and that may be a selling point for the game even though it's third in a series. Knowing the order of the games is helpful but I need more info on the gameplay. Thanks for your video and sorry for the long post!

nice to see a video about the Atelier series! I should really get back to playing Atelier Rorona, but i remember its time limits kicking my butt. I guess i'm just not that good at games anymore haha. Ah Rorona was so adorable! i'm playing Atelier Lydie & Suelle right now. the characters are super cute in it! its super convenient on the nintendo switch
