Saw this coming in 2012 when I deployed there. Every country gets the government it deserves, and the will to build a nation originates from its people, not outside sources. It would have been more valuable to invest the money squandered there on our own people, or at least those in our hemisphere.

The last 2 Taliban offensives were repulsed by the Afghan Army when they had US air support. They took plenty of casualties in doing so. So we close our airbase in the middle of the night and don't even tell them we are leaving. We don't even have close air support for the 5000 US troops we just sent back in to get our people out.
