Thailand Times — Focus: Sustainable Finance

Like most countries, Asian developing countries including Thailand had urgent needs to tackle with the unprecedented global pandemic. ADB’s response to Thailand’s priority needs amidst and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic were essential.

ADB support to Thailand through the $1.5 billion COVID-19 Active Response and Expenditure Support Program assisted the country achieve a quick disbursement of funds to the most affected people by the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 and strengthen Thailand’s resilience and sustainability.

ADB also supported Thailand moving forward to inclusive economic recovery amidst the volatile global situation including climate change, high inflation, conflicts. The innovative and sustainable financing tools such as green and sustainable bonds were introduced in response to the country’s priority needs of climate change mitigation and fiscal sustainability. Meanwhile, ADB provided technical supports to Thailand to ensure the country’s competitiveness and connectivity through bio-circular-green economy, health, sustainable tourism, and regional cooperation integration.
