Great Britain is known for making some of the most iconic two-seat roadsters to ever tear down the tarmac. But amidst the Aston Martins, Jags and Lotus’ that we’ve driven over the years, there’s another brand that has an equally unique story, TVR. It’s a story our own Roger Mecca learned about when he got behind the wheel of one of their most storied designs—one that has the looks, speed, style and thrills American car fans search for, but few ever found.

Failed to talk about the chassis. The centerpiece of the TVR .

Enjoyed the video and, yes, they always put I smile on your face when driving. I'm on my 6th with many trips down to France, Spain, Portugal and Germany. Great driving fun.

Just for the record, the name, TVR, was an acronym for the company’s founder, Trevor Wilkerson (“TreVoR”, as the company put it.). None of them even had third brake lights on them, being British home market exotic cars. Not even airbags or ABS.

“Never gained traction” is the perfect way to describe a TVR.

I miss TVR. Was a huge fan of them. No idea how they made it to 2006, but they made really nice rare cars. The styling was amazing, the price not too outlandish, and they were simple/pure.

Jay Leno's Garage recently reviewed a contemporary TVR, worth looking at.

TVR, the art of making 1960's cars in the 1990's, and all the better for it!

The "380i Tasmin" was a 280i. They were available in the US. There was also a 350i that never officially made it here, as far as I recall.

In my mind, there's nothing better than a large displacement inline six cylinder for performance, roomy engine bay for servicing.

"You don't want to come out of the supermarket and say, you know, which Porsche Boxster is mine?" Totally! I hate that.
