Youtube: LBCF 19.7 Ang Batas ng Diyos - Pagbubuod sa katuruan (21-Jun-2020)
Study Series: 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith

Neither are the aforementioned uses of the law contrary to the grace of the gospel, but do sweetly comply with it, the Spirit of Christ subduing and enabling the will of man to do that freely and cheerfully which the will of God, revealed in the law, requireth to be done.

Gal. 3:21; Jer. 31:33; Ezek. 36:27; Rom. 8:4; Titus 2:14

Law and grace

Note: Avoid antinomianism and licentious living

1. The keeping of law is a New Covenant Promise (Ezek 36:27, Jer 31:33) - The Spirit had been poured out in our hearts. The Spirit does what the law could not do.
2. The law reveals the will of God but it does not give us the power to obey.
- Evangelical law-keeping - not to attain to the righteousness of God but expressing it through the power of the Spirit.
3. The law is good (1 Tim 1:8, Rom 7:16, Psalm 1, 19)
4. The law adresses the issues of the heart (John 14:15, De 4:7-8) - relationship between law and love (De 4:32-40, 6:4-5, 7:7-9, 11:13)
5. The keeping of the law is possible because of the Spirit (Gal 3:2, 5:18, John 1:17)

Application:
- True Christians obey the law (Jn 14:15)
- Law-keeping does not justify us but only the blood and righteousness of Christ (Rev 14:12)
- Law-keeping is essential not for our justication but in our sanctification.
