As a Trinbagonian living in Jamaica, soca music is played here and i have personally been to venues, chill spots that engages not just at carnival. Jamaica is predominantly reggae, dancehall yes but there is a mixture of cultures in music. Yes Jamaicans do listen to soca music although its not as high on their list as reggae and dancehall. Caribbean artistes are free to collab with whomever and these two genres meshing is nothing short of great. Change is inevitable and good. Embrace it.
