WHAT CAN YOU FILE USING THE INTENT TO FILE? #va #benefits #compensation #veterans #claim DIC PENSION

Your intent to file a VA claim
Find out how to notify us of your intent to file a claim for VA disability, pension, or DIC benefits.

When you start your disability application (or Supplemental Claim) online, it notifies us automatically of your intent to file
If you start filling out a claim form (or Supplemental Claim) online for disability benefits, we’ll reserve a potential start date for your benefits. You don’t need to call us or submit a separate intent to file form.

Note: This automatic intent to file doesn’t apply to online claims for pensions or DIC (Dependency and Indemnity Compensation) benefits.

What’s an intent to file?
An intent to file sets a potential start date (or effective date) for your benefits. If you notify us of your intent to file, you may be able to get retroactive payments (payments for the time between when you submitted your intent to file and when we approved your claim).

You can notify us of your intent to file if you plan to file a claim or a Supplemental Claim for these types of benefits:

Disability compensation
Pension benefits
Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)

I find it interesting that there are people pissed off about the title of the previous video. It's not exactly inaccurate. It is technically true. But throwing a temper tantrum over a title of a video and taking the time to send a message saying that they're going to unsubscribe is just petty. If you don't like what you see, then don't watch it. If you feel some type of way about the information you are given, then sit there and feel the way you feel. This man puts out so much useful information and it's information like this that is actually significantly helped me in my endeavors of getting my VA claims done and done well. And this information continues to be useful because I can also pass this on to people that I know so we can all take care of each other. I could care less about the title of the video so long is the information given is fruitful and accurate. People need to stop being petty and picky and be thankful that somebody has taken an extraordinary amount of time to get this information and break it down so others can understand it better. I know I am grateful for it. Thank you

I used the NC State Veterans Affairs Office to file an intent to file. It was delivered to VA the same day. I am at 90% disability but with unimplementability claim and paid at 100%. I applied 3 more service-connected claims that should rise me to 100%. Now have a Veterans Evaluation Service letter for an appointment. Basically, an exam for the 3 claims.

Thank you so much for your videos! My Dad turned in his PACT ACT intent to file on Aug. 8, 2023. The Texas Veteran's Commission helped us file a claim Dec 2023. He did his first C&P exam in Feb 2024, and they have back paid him to Dec 2023. He has another C&P exam this Thursday. Will they back pay him till Aug 2022...or will it only be Dec 2023?

Why would I appeal it? Why not HLR it, loose then just supplemental, gaining an additional 12 months to build evidence?

QUESTION: My initial claim is currently pending rating decision (Step 5). I have 1 more thing that I would like to claim. Can I submit a new ITF for the new thing now or do I have to, or should I, wait until my initial claim has been fully processed?

LTC Greenberg says NO to using an intent to file! Veteran service and sacrifice is nothing but a career stepping stone for Greenberg and his ring knocking ilk at the Point. Duty, honor, country!

I would send a certified letter with a signature receipt, too much error risk for computer systems and humans randomly answering the phone with zero accountability.

If I have a claim for a few things already that have been rated, and I have a new issue I want to claim, do I need to submit a new intent to file?

@veteransinfotap Does the Intent to File start the clock only for the conditions you immediately file for within the 12 month period or does it include claims filed after that? Or do you need to (or should you) submit a new Intent to File after you make a claim for any new or secondary conditions you may be submitting after that?

Would you recommend VA guardian? If not who would you use if you were refilling for a higher rate?
I’m at 90 now and living off my benefits and I’m terrified to ask for more because I’ve heard they can take away as well
Thanks for the work !

can you open an intent to file if you have a claim that's currently being processed? The VA website won't let me open an intent to file right now for some reason
