This is not how this thing usually works! Don't hold the egg in your hand, put it in an egg cup. When doing that, it pretty consistently only removes the *shell* for me, not part of the egg as well. It also does it very cleanly, not with little shell pieces coming off as seen here. I was trying to explain to a friend how this thing works, and he found this video, so I then had to point him to other videos that show it in normal use. Look for other YouTube videos on the subject (just search for "egg topper"), and you will see.

This completely misses the main problem.

I have one of these... and it has a pretty big design flaw.

When you have a hot egg... and crack it... the heat from the egg causes this to stick to it.

It’s really stuck to it.. and your egg is too hot to hold in order to pull it off.

So you either burn your hands.. or struggle to separate this device from the egg with tongs.. which often cause the egg to smash.

It’s ok for making cracks in the egg.. but not a good slicer.

I can see that cold eggs may work better... but I eat my eggs hot.

Be aware.. this demo does not take into account hot eggs..

I’d like to see him try it.

Someone who doesn’t own an egg cup showing people how to use an absolutely useless tool. A knife works perfectly - especially on eggs that aren’t even soft boiled. This egg is practically raw.

OK so how many of us can stand holding a hot boiled egg in our hands while using this tool? I want to see it cut the top of a hot soft-boiled egg when it's sitting in an egg cup. With due respect this video is well made but long winded and not informative at all.
