This is basically glued onto my Sony ZV-E1 and it's really solid for run-and-gun. I no longer use it for you YouTube, but do sometimes for short-form. It's a really solid mic and as you said, no cables, no batteries, nothing. It. Just. Works!

No one has ever mentioned that the ECM B1M is MADE in JAPAN. The other Sony mics are made in Thailand.
