Those of you skimming let me ask you this, say every day of your life you felt uncomfortable, like something was wrong, you go down a dark path get into so bad stuff now you in a bad place a prison that treats you like Less than a person… but haven’t you always been treated as less then a person? No one treated you right because of what you were… because of this disforia. They say your wrong, even in prison your disgusting some people STILL don’t see you as a PERSON even when you both wear orange. On top of all that you still feel like you’re imprisoned in your own body. Now let’s say… you sold drugs… or vehicular manslaughter. Or any number of minor crimes that could land you in prison… maybe you’re even innocent? Does that mean you deserve to be in a prison of body as well?

You’re taxes are being payed anyways, it is a very very very small percentage that goes towards this and to you it is near to nothing, minuscule in comparison. And for those in jail who are struggling or working towards rehabilitating and finding themselves are able to grow one step closer to that by that minuscule amount of money that likely isn’t even coming from you. I think trans prisoners should be able to transition, it’s like being double miserable it’s bad enough being in regular prison but imagine feeling trapped in not only a building by your own body. Everyone should be able to transition, even if they’re in jail or prison. No matter what they did, they still deserve to feel comfortable in their own body.

Prison is about rehabilitation as much as it is about punishment. Denying gender affirming care in prison won't help rehabilitate the prisoners at all, it'll make them more unstable.
