This is such a wonderful movie - I wish they would release it on DVD. I have 2 copies on VHS and I feel lucky to have them.

The realization by Amanda (Ms. Young) that her son Andrew thought he was unloved by her and his father, really hit the mark. It explained everything and showed Andrew as a hurt little boy who misunderstood his parents affection.

I idolized Loretta Young as a kid. Her shows were always a message served with a velvet glove . I wish she didn’t have to deny that she was the natural mother of her daughter that was fathered by Clark Gable. She went to her grave with that secret. It adds a bit of tarnish to an otherwise exemplary life. Thanks for posting this film…

Thank you so much. I don't know where I was that I missed this movie as "The Christmas Dove" in 1986 but I very much enjoyed it tonight as "Christmas Eve" generously shared with the public by the descendants of Loretta Young. I loved the wonderful clothing Loretta Young wore as she hosted her weekly TV show. Her persona was classic and I would pay dearly for a robe that would remind me of her as I remember yesteryear while yet enjoying my life in this world that moves too fast. Technology causes many to forget relationships require person to person interactions, movies like this show us it is still so.
