The "roll up" concept is great! Our house is small, so I have an old filing cabinet in my bedroom. One drawer is for "garage" stuff (batteries, light bulbs, screws, tape, general maintenance bits and bobs). The next drawer is office supplies (pens, pencils, paper clips, staples, etc). The third drawer is paper (files, spare notepads, envelopes, printer paper, etc). The last drawer is electronics (old hard drives, portable DVD player, DVDs, CDs, etc).
It makes finding and putting away so much easier, and gives a boundary on how much stuff I keep in each category.

A lot of good ideas. A grace tray is a good idea and great name.

This "rolling up" concept is interesting! I did something similar when keeping all of our beach towels, swimming suits, goggles, etc. in a big beach bag instead of keeping swimwear in every family members' dresser/closet and towels in the laundry room. I like it WAY better, and it makes spontaneous trips to the pool or beach so much easier. Now I'm looking around trying to think of what else I should "roll up" into a bag or basket by purpose.

As I have gotten more minimalish, I’ve gotten pretty ruthless with things that just don’t fit in any other category or if we just don’t need it. Great video, Erica!

I have noticed that doing a ten minute daily tidy of items left out has served as a training practice to really ingrain where the new homes are once I have grouped and given them permanent homes. A number of years in now and it works well.
I used to wait until my house was trashed And then I couldn’t remember what the systems were that I had once put in place.

After a number of years of this daily “training”, find I put things away on auto pilot now. And if I create a new category or have new objects I just go back into training mode. We got home at midnight from a trip last night and I literally put away all the items that were in my travel bag as easily as putting away my coat before I went to bed. And it wasn’t even hard. My body literally went on auto pilot half asleep.

Nice video. I can definitely say that grouping items into little kits That makes sense and then practicing has really worked in our house.

Dana K. White from A Slob Comes Clean has a method for things that I've been utilizing lately. If you were to need something, where is the first place you would look for it? That has been a game changer for me, especially with getting ready to move soon and putting everything everywhere haha

have a set place for items.
we have a wall pouch for the keys.right next to the door, kinda behind the t.v
it helps.
if you carry a backpack, briefcase, etc regularly when you go out, have whatever you normally carry inside, ready to go.
if you're in school, put everything back into your bag once you're done with homework.check again before bed.
it saves time.
when I do laundry(Laundromat), I pair up socks, gloves, mittens while there.
it don't take but 5extra minutes.
easy.being organized saves money because you see what you have, nothing is lost, not buying multiples of items you already have tons of.

I keep clothes pins in my kitchen. I use them as bag clips. they are so much smaller then the ones that you can buy for them.

The first thing I did when I began minimalism was the junk drawer, then my car, after that there was no stopping me.. 5 years later I am so glad I am intentional, love watching the videos on minimalism. Wonderful suggestions Erica

My late husband was a hoarder. He had a box of TV remotes, maybe 50 at least. He would not get rid of them. I finally got him to keep only 20.

I am on my decluttering journey for about 2 years now. I decluttered so many things, approx. 20 big cardboard boxes. My problem is to not bring new stuff in. But the biggest problem is to not put things back where they belong. My apartment is only 73 sqm, so it looks cluttered and messy very fast. My boyfriend is very messy. I leave the apartment clean and tidy. I cannot stand leaving the house, when it’s messy. As soon as I come back from work, I am totally stressed, because he messed up the place.

I think I have a grace table. It’s all mine and it really bugs me if I don’t get a put away in a day or so. It also keeps me from putting things all over the house if I come in in a hurry. Or I’m just too zonked in that moment. Then when I have the time it’s really easy to put things away almost on auto pilot, because I’ve trained myself as to where they go now. My mind doesn’t really have to do it I just put on music in my body knows what to do.
