Hobie 16 in the swell

Hobie Cat 16 wave jumps, surfs and wipeouts, short sailing session in Brittany, France.

Windguru forecast was giving around 20 knots of wind, with gusts up to 30, but in reality it was almost 2 times more, with big waves.

thanks for the memories, we took our Hobie 16 out through the surf a lot. On days with little wind, I had to lay on the hull and paddle to help get up through the waves!

In those conditions your crew should be on the trap, and behind you. It's his job to balance the boat fore and aft. Super nice video. A pitchpole now and then is good for the cat sailor. The Hobie 16 is such a well made boat, I used to hit the beach at full speed. I'd never do that with my Inter 20.

Facile avec le vent portant ou travers mais vent debout, sans pouvoir verrouiller les safrans, c est une autre aventure, p. ex. au départ de Ronde om Texel !!! Beautiful video guys !

Ich hab für die nächste Saison einen Hobie Tiger zur Verfügung und freue mich schon tierisch!!!
Allerdings hab ich auch etwas Bange vor den vielen Trimm Möglichkeiten auf der Regatta Version 😳
Denn Captain Bartolo ist eigentlich nur Faltboot Segler 😉
