Welcome, my name is Aga. Robin, why are we here today?
Hi, I am Robin Ash from the BDA. I'm here to let everybody know
and to let as many people know to come along to our next BSL taster session.
It's an opportunity for people to find out a little more about BSL.
So please come along we need to let as many people know as possible.

What is involved in a BSL taster Robin?
Well really, a BSL taster is to give people who have not yet learned BSL, they don't know anything about sign language. So they come along and find out what BSL is, what British Sign Language is and to learn some basic signs. That learning of fingerspelling will help them be able to say their names. And how they communicate with deaf people who use sign language, get a little understanding. And also not just learning BSL, but learning how facial expressions have an impact.
Learn a little bit about linguistics and for those that are keen to learn more. Then we will explain where they can go, the information is shared through the session.

Who can join these BSL taster sessions?
Really it's open to anybody, but aimed at people hearing or deaf who have not yet learned BSL. And also people who work with deaf people, PA's, carers, communication support workers and so on. Those that work with deaf or hard of hearing people, they want a little more information and want to know more about BSL. Or they are not sure about going on a course, should I learn sign language even? It's important for them to join us.
For those who are familiar with BSL and know the language really well, it is not an appropriate course. It is aimed at those who haven't learned it and want to know a bit about BSL.

It sounds really exciting, so when and where is the next one?
The BSL tasters will be delivered through Zoom and people will participate through Zoom.
Wednesday 12th January 2022, 10 O'Clock in the morning until 12, it's about a 2 hours course.
We will have a discussion and we will give some information.

So how can anybody register or contact you for this?
The best way if you're interested in being part of it, register through the promotion that Deaf-initely Women have done. They've done some fantastic promotion, there is a video above this in the post will have an Eventbrite invite. And you can contact the BDA or Deaf-initely Women to register your interest to join the next session.

Thank Robin, looking forward to seeing the next session.
I hope as many people who are interested or would like to know a little more about a BSL taster.
Please come along, it might be part of your New Years Resolution to learn BSL sign language. And is a perfect time to start. So I'm hoping to see you all there.

Thank you and goodbye!
