So I told my wife we need to practice swinging everyday, she was not amused. Great video sir, I do enjoy how clear and concise you are with your lessons. The why, just as important as the how.

"Makes no difference if it's cool or hot, give that rhythm everything you've got. It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."

This guy is #1 at explaining to students how the basics came about

I am also one of the 9. I kinda feel like the best drummers always have a strong foundation in jazz, Peart, Bonham, Gadd, etc...

I love the awkward silent stare at the camera. I always feel guilty for I know not what. 😄

Man I dig it, the spang-a-lang is at the core of every one of them, that's awesome.

Rob, as a reggae fan, I was pleasantly surprised at how well you nailed the reggae beat. Then again, you're Beatdown! As for the swing feel, one of the coolest things about Bill Ward of Sabbath was his ability to add that swing inspired feel. Gave the rhythm section a fluidity that isn't often seen in metal stuff.

Jazz & swing are my focus, I'm learning the funk, hop hip, etc. grooves from listening and practicing to you. Guess I'm living my life backwards 👍

Another reason Beatdown is the best drum channel on the Tube.

second lines in new orleans (my hometown) are like trainbeats in tejas. if you're a working drummer and you can't play a second line you're sunk. thanks for the shout out to nola and second lines and for focusing on drumming traditions such as the swing, they are still important today. mr. brown you are a fantastic drummer and an excellent teacher and i always learn something new from your videos. you're doing great work here man keep it going. who dat!!

The difference between knowing it and feeling it. Making that emotional connection and being in the grove, as you are playing it. That’s really wise man, thank you.

Love your videos man....I studied here in Sydney and I had a real arrogant Jerk for a teacher. If I had you as my teacher many years back...I'd be happy. My first teacher ever was a great guy and great explaining things as you are. God bless.

Getting that swing/bounce/triplet grid bone deep in your mind is everything. Hands won't do what isn't in your head!
