You can't hear it well, but, the Guitar solo in the end is one of the best solos ever.
Christopher played himself...

When Christopher's tunes started hitting the waves everyone wanted to see him, but the music industry were purposely keeping him behind the scenes. Sadly when he was presented the voice didn't match what was in people's imagination and it really hurt him. Sad how so many songbirds never get a chance just because they don't fit the industries criteria. Thanks Asia and BJ

Great, awesome song, Michael McDonald is the cherry on top of this one but no doubt, but the musical skills of Christopher Cross are on full display! 🎵

This soft rock classic tells the story of a condemned man on the run to Mexico. The storyline is one not often heard on Adult Contemporary radio, but the precise instrumentation and soaring background vocals, which were provided by Michael McDonald, helped make the song a big hit. "I grew up with a lot of cowboy movies. Serials and stuff, like The Lone Ranger and these cowboy serials where they were always chasing the bad guy. And I lived in San Antonio near Mexico, so there was always this anarchistic allure about if you could get to Mexico, you could escape the authority, " Cross recalled. "Also, Mexico was a place where you could go down there and drink and do all this debauchery that as a kid, you think sounds really cool. So getting to the border in Mexico was a fascinating thing to me."

Brings back memories of youth of riding your bicycle as fast as the wind. Good times back then. Also check out song "Sailing"

Christopher Cross did the guitar solo too for this song. Here is something most people may not know about Christopher. He once played lead guitar with Deep Purple because Ritchie Blackmore fell ill before a concert in 1970. I think you two did a reaction of Christopher Cross' song "Sailing" which was from this same Album called Christopher Cross. 4 of the song from this Album made it into Billboards top 100. "Sailing" made it to # 1, "Ride Like the Wind" made it to # 2, "Never Be the Same" made it to #15, and "Say You'll Be Mine" made it to # 20. This was his first Album. Also the Album charted at # 6 on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart. Thank you for your Reaction Asia and BJ.

Love this song!! When it came our in 198o no one knew who Christopher Cross was. And on the strength of this song and its follow-up SAILING he managed to become Artist of the Year, Record of the Year, and gather a few more accolades at the Grammys. vstill tours today.
I always imagined in my head this song would underline the scene in a cowboy picture where the bank robbers were trying to outride the posse chasing them. A hard fast gallop with the dirt and bullets flying back and forth. Michael McDonald and the backup singers chanting are the best accent to underline the scenario.
Another great song for you guys, since live Texas would by the group, WAR. The song is, SOUTHERN PART OF TEXAS. About a woman trying to get justice. If you decide to react to it, please do the album version. You will really appreciate the latin /afro mix of this song. Enjoy.

Takes me back to when I was dating my wife in the late 70's, she was living in Fresno CA and I was living in the SF Bay Area working in the shipyards there. I was driving down to Fresno every weekend, I'd get off at midnight (swing shift) and I"d "ride like the wind" down to Fresno to see my baby! This song was often playing on my Pioneer AM/FM cassette deck and I'd be blasting it loud! Man those were the days!

The Little River Band song "Cool Change" has similar lyrical themes to the Christopher Cross song "Sailing". Plus they use the words "albatross" and "whales" in the lyrics. How often do we hear these in pop music? Other favorites by Little River Band are "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", and "Reminising".

Michael McDonald discovered Christopher Cross and was so impressed by Cross' unique voice he was part of Cross' debut album. If Im not mistaken, Cross became the first artist in Grammy history to receive 5 Grammys for one album. Arthur's Theme is probably my favorite song from CC.

This is a cracking song with a killer guitar solo by Chris Cross himself. In 1981, the album it was from (self Titled) won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, beating Pink Floyd's The Wall, no mean feat huh!! In all there were 3 hit songs on this his debut album, 'Sailing' 'Never be the Same' and 'Ride like the wind'.. he has at present 15 albums to his credit.

Christopher Cross was a monster talent, good enough at guitar to get offered studio work with Steely Dan - a group which would only hire the absolute best of the best probably second only to Zappas bands in technical superiority
