I look at them and think "Aren't they too old for this?!" They are pushing 40 but behave like they are in middle school.

LETS NOT FORGET Mikayla made a whole series of finding the “perfect wedding lip” just to end up having a whole lip kit come out. Girl that damn kit was in the work AT LEAST a few months back so that whole series was BS. She was never gonna wear any other lip than her own. That was the shadiest part to me about that Elf collab.

I think a major issue with Mikayla is that she claims to have a different "holy grail skincare routine that I use every day" literally every month depending on what brand she's promoting. Thats just not possible with skincare compared to makeup

I’m glad someone from the 2016 beauty space is covering this because honestly I’ve almost been unable to care out of the massive deja vu vibes

This is why I love James Welsh. He goes above and beyond to disclose in his videos to his audience. I was even shocked watching his review of a product from his favorite company where he completely shared his dislike for the product.

I love when the beauty drama is actual petty and mostly inconsequential drama and not crimes

Short answer: No, no we can’t trust influencers. Beauty or otherwise. So glad to see an upload from you!

Honestly even smaller influencers have a reason to lie. They are trying to get noticed to get PR and a brand deal, etc. so you’re absolutely right it’s up to the consumer to decide. There are some out there that show good character and integrity while making an income of their passion.

I’ve just learned to stop trusting any influencer. Even if it isn’t intentional there will always be bias and I just can’t keep putting people on pedestals. I will feel vibes and enjoy many people but I have to remember I don’t know any of these people so I really shouldn’t ever trust them.

Only tangentially related but I would not be surprised if in 2025 there's a rise in dupe products/ dupe videos. Makeup components and ingredients will likely be more costly with tariffs and in turn raise the price of whole products.

I saw on my fyp the other day that Mikayla (sp?) lied on a Black woman owned beauty brand.. I don’t follow Mikayla myself but the video I saw on the topic by this Black female creator said Mikayla did a swatch of this eyeshadow and made it seem like the owner exaggerated how pigmented the shadow was.. the owner of the brand ended up stitching Mikayla and cleaned her arm and did a full swipe of the eyeshadow shade in one take all the way up her arm to prove Mikayla lied… (I assumed this video was gonna be about that but now that I know it’s not I figured I would bring it up)

Thank you for mentioning JS most certainly having ulterior motives to bash others BGs and brands. I stg if I see 1 more person say "one thing about Jefree is he's always honest"... it blows my mind lol
Always gtsy Hannah ❤

I don’t keep up really with beauty drama anymore, so having you explain this little dust up feels kinda nostalgic.

I’ve been dying for this to drop again, I was worried I missed it forever.

I’m glad you made the comparison to Jaclyn Hill because I’ve been thinking about how similar the two are since mascara gate. It isn’t just Mikayla, any beauty influencers bread and butter is shilling products, misrepresenting their financial motives, and skewing information so that they can make as much money as possible before the bubble pops
