I’m remember reading video games and movie reviews in the 90’s and early 2000’s. When a critic or fan didn’t like the product there was never a word about “oh they are just being a toxic fan.” Nowadays toxic fans are being blamed for bad quality left and right. What has changed? Social media is everywhere now and the companies want to defend their products at all cost. Got to sell that bad product after all.

If this theory is true, Dave, then the companies (Disney primarily) are more despicable than I thought. If they are intentionally creating things to upset the actual fans who invested their time and money in a product they actually liked, just to generate attention through negativity, they need to be put out of business.
