Well the conditions are not the same:
1) In the USB mic you are speaking from a longer distance, thus it makes your sound more roomy and also it makes the level quieter (in general louder sounds more fulfilling).
2) The price ranges of the two mics dont match: You could have compared the PodMic to a similar price range mic such as Rode NT-USB or NT-USB Mini. Or you should have used a cheaper microphone to match the quality of that USB mic that I've never heard of.
You can not compare two mics of different quality and judge the USB mics to XLR mics. If so, you can compare a good quality USB mic to a cheap XLR mic. For example AKG Lyra USB vs. Behringer C3 XLR mic?

Downside of most usb mic's is that they won't even last for a year or 1½ with their 1 year warranty.
I had 2 blue yeti's in 2 years.
First 1 was already defect after 4 month of use while it never had moved a inch to another spot🤦‍♂️
XLR is so much better like you said when it comes to voice control.
Last long, high quality build and up to 10 years warranty.
When it comes to the warranty of the cables, some have a lifetime and you able to switch at the instrument store for a brand new one👏

Nice demo, this looks like a great setup! I've heard people say you have to crank the gain to maximum on the Scarlett when using the Rode PodMic. Did you find that was an issue?

Great video... I think the quality you mentioned was definitely biased towards the XLR mic but questionable as you demonstrated using the USB mic slightly further away from your mouth but you were closer with the Rode. I run a recording studio and I believe what you said was totally correct, the XLR mic and interface will always win in quality but it was really marginal and nothing that couldn't be sorted with some light compression and EQ. Thanks anyway for the review.

I'm confused does that xlr box thing plug into your laptop and your camera at the same time? Why do you even need to plug a mic into your laptop in the first place? Don't you just need to plug a mic into the camera your recording with?
