Lagadia, the hanging village of Peloponese, is a natural and architectural marvel. Built on the steep slopes of Mount Mainalon, it gives you the feeling you are hanging over the gorge formed by the Lagadian river, the ancient river Tuthoa acording to Pausanias. In ancient times the city Teuthis was in its place. The citizens took part in the Trojan war together with other Arcadians under the leadership of Agapinor.
Lagadia was built at ca 1300AD by the artisans (architects masons and builders) who built the medieval castle of Accova and later they went on going all around Peloponese in organised groups to build Bridges churches and major buildings.
