This is a nice crinkle paint Kennedy toolbox with 12 bays in the top tray and 6 in the lower tray. These style of toolboxes are not very common anymore but they are handy when you have a lot of small items to keep organized.

I still have my dads old tin Craftsmen Tool Box from the 1960s. Miss you Dad.

Grampy left one behind when he passed a while ago, and his son (my grandpa) asked if I wanted it. Grampy took very good care of it. It's now cleaned, wd-40 treatment, and shiny with three in one. Now home to part of my knife collection :)

I handle kennedy steel all the time at work. We sell them material and cut for them. They have very strict surface requirements.

About these toolboxes, I have seen one Kennedy in real life before getting my own. I used to work at our old pipe shop (mid 2000s) and they had a machinist box in the back for repairs work. They also had a few Snap-on‘s and other tools and machine tools including several lathes. In general the Kennedys seem to have thinner walls than Snap-on‘s but were more suitable for smaller tools and parts. A few months ago I found a garage sale on my way home, stopped in and recognized the brownish gray of a Kennedy box buried underneath a bunch of other stuff. Ended up with a 1022. That’s the larger cantilevered barn roof style. One side the paint was quite faded and cracked, but some of the other sides looked brand new. Inside it was very very dirty but the paint was in great condition, again basically brand new. The main bottom chamber was lined with a cardboard panel. When I pulled it out and turned it over the other side had printing from Kennedy. It was a piece of the box that the toolbox had actually come in. There was also an old brochure in there. All in all I was pretty happy with the $15 purchase.

Stay safe and take care.

Great review, Ty. Happy to learn about Kennedy Kits toolboxes. Like the metal handle. I'll be on the lookout for one.

Sweet box! I always look for Kennedy tool boxes but so far have only found Craftsman and Snap Ons.

Mr Maximus, I would argue that Ebay's typical bidding war is absolutely the WORST place to buy second hand tools .

There are still a few metal toolbox manufacturers with a pretty good assortment of boxes for sale
Thing is, not a lot of people are willing to shell out the money for them. A box like the Kennedy is going to be around the $200 mark.

Flambeau makes a tackle box style tool box. I have used them for decades as the multiple storage trays work well for dividing various parts.
The one down side is that it is only available in plastic so it may not be as durable as metal. I've had decent luck with them.

That linoleum looks like its from the same era as the tool box.

Nice sturdy box, especially for $10, but I really don't dig the brown crinkle finish thing - it's like Kennedy went out of their way to make their toolboxes as drab and unattractive as possible. God, why not red or blue or black, or anything but dull crappy brown that you can't even put a sticker on to brighten it up a bit?
