Thank you all for your support with this video!! I do want to clarify something I have said in the video: Ratchets do not contain springs. The terminology of a spring is a bit easier to understand for new people. The construction of a ratchet contains about 4 separate pieces of plastic. Underneath the center layer we have a small plastic piece that presses up against the bit once inserted that is either tight or loose. Kinda like a plastic version if a spring system. But just wanted to clarify for people and do apologize for not clarifying sooner! Love and appreciate all you guys!

Thank you for the video!

Just two things to add:

1. The height number of the ratchet is actually 10 times the actual height. Eg. A 3-60 is 6 millimeters tall.

2. You can also distinguish the height of a bit by the number of grooves on the area surrounding the bit. 60s have 6 lines, 70s have 7, etc.

I'm glad you touched on things like angular momentum in beyblade design

Great video! Also, to add to how to identify ratchet heights, on each side of the bit hole on the bumps there will be a different amount of vertical ridges.
- 60 height: 3 ridges on each side
- 70 height: 4 ridges on one side, 3 on the other
- 80 ratchet: 4 ridges on each side
- 85 ratchet: 4 ridges on each side with a horizontal ridge going through the top of them

atlast! you are the first guy to make an indepth look into ratchets. thankyou for this, now bladers will not just blindly select 60 height ratchets.

Another easy way to identify the ratchet height is also just counting the thick lines on the center piece on the ratchet. 60 ratchets will have 3 lines on one side and 3 on the other. 70 ratchets will have 4 on one end and 3 on the other. Not sure how they'll implement it once 65, 75, or 85 ratchets become available but for now that's one quick glance way to tell.

This is amazing! The quality of this video almost feels like a commercial grade production! You're amazing bro! I never noticed that about the 70 ratchets, but that does make it easier to tell the difference between the 70 ratchets and 60 ratchets!

9-X0s have high burst resistance due to small Arms, but at the same time they're very light and have a more central weight distribution, meaning they aren't going to help your attack.

7-60 (soon 7-X0) Ratchets are similar to 1-X0 because they've got one Arm that's larger, albeit not as drastic as the 1-X0s. They have more overall weight but due to the arms being more flat, it's also more centrally distributed mass.

Another unique feature for X-70 Ratchets: the central shaft that holds the Bit has a Hexagon shape instead of being round.

Wow, finally an extensive guide on what are and how the rachets work. Being a new player, rachets confused me with "what the heck are those for if not to keep the other two pieces together and make them burst?"

Thanks for the video!

Truly informative and high quality knowledgle from the smoothest voice out. Thank you for the best Beytube content available to us all. This video will be saved for training purchases and also be shown to my community members 💯❤️‍🔥

Thanks for the info! I was scared to dismount my stock combos cuz then i might not be able to identify the ratchets/bits since they don't seem to have labeling, so its nice u pointed out how to differentiate them!

Anyway, now with silver wolfe release people are starting to build more stamina focus decks because now there is a top tier option besides wizard, with attack becoming less popular taller ratchets may start seeing more use.

as much ad 2-XX is hated, i actually think it can be neat on Tyranno Beat, especially the upcoming 2-70 which no longer needs HT to reach the middle height and can now use any other bit

This video is really helpful and also accurate, ratchets does play a role in how the bey performs and acts in the stadium. Also I do agree with the 80 ratchet with having a higher burst resistance on the beys but since it has more exposure people thought and I also at first was pretty risky to use. But when I started to use a recommended bey combo in the Takara Tomy slip, I had no issue with ratchet bursting having an 80 ratchet so far.

Since I'm- broke. I only have limited parts of Beyblade X and also I don't really buy any meta parts or beyblades, I only buy ones that I like. But further testing with these beys I noticed that not just the bits and the layer/blade but also the ratchet not just depending the height but also to the blades of the ratchet.

I also noticed that the blades of the ratchet example: "3"-60, "4"-80, "9"-60, "5"-60 actually really affect the performance of the bey just like what you've mentioned in this video, it doesn't only give different weights to the bey combo but it also gives weight distribution even tho the material is plastic for example my DranSword combo the 3-80 ratchet is switchable and it has 2 modes, attack and stamina. If you notice there's a 3 damper like holes on the DranSword layer. By aligning the blades of the ratchet to those holes it gives the bey more stability and stamina and capable of drawing out barrage attacks but if I switch the ratchet position the blades of the ratchet is now aligned to the metal and plastic pieces giving it more unstable and aggressive nature while sacrificing the stamina.

I can say Takara Tomy is smart for giving these features to Beyblade X and how this affects the competitive side of blading.

I will note that while solo spin tests show that higher ratchets can, in fact, spin longer, in battle it's negated by the increased burst risk of tall ratchets, which is why competitive combos tend to go for 60 height ratchets. 4 and 2 ratchets are also notably hated as their designs are rather jagged, leading to a surface that is easier to contact with and burst than 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. From what I've seen from others and felt myself, there's no actual burst resistance difference between low and high ratchets, but variances in production can result in "good" and "bad" ratchets of the same type.

Also, it's already been said but the notches around the bit slot denote the height. I presume the 6mm ratchets being called 60 is to make it clearer to specify and harken back to Metal Fight spintracks and how they are measured.

Weight Forge Discs came out in plastic gen 1. They are more geared towards play style and the individual. I actually prefer 80 height Ratchets. Most people think 80 sucks. It's preference tbh. Everyone plays, launches, and thinks differently. This video is a great guide, but I'd say experiment yourself and see what produces the best results for you. Everyone who I've taught to play from OG gen till now, has preferences for parts.

Great video but when you say the spring system in the ratchets, there are no springs and I compared my 60s and 80s and they click the same so I don’t think burst resistance is higher in the 80s ratchets

During the testing I have this week, Knightmail 9-80 Dot is very tanky, obviously will lose to stamina builds if the battle drags out but for most attack builds it faced against it held its own pretty well.

I'm still finding ways to find use to my 80 ratchets but for now here's my lineup.

Viper Tail 5-60T
Dransword 3-60GP
Knightmail 9-80D

Backups
Unicorn Sting 5-80O
Wizard Rod 9-70B
Rhino Horn 4-60GF
Hellscythe 4-60N
