Seems like you didn't research the culture. You're not taking British English culture nor London culture into consideration. In England people don't often invite people they don't know well to their homes. Also £100 isn't that much money to be tempting. You aren't even buying ingredients so it's less than the £100 you are offering. Also people in the city are often commuting far from their homes and they're genuinely busy. People don't want to be rude but honestly it's not a good offer.

I imagine that if you catch someone with a different cultural background then they might be more open.
