Kentucky Route Zero - Act III - Too Late to Love You (in-game version)

Показать описание
The ephemeral musical centre-piece of the third act of Kentucky Route Zero, a game that's doing things I always wished games would do. Junebug and Jonny perform to what could technically be called a crowd, putting a post-robotic spin on a song they heard in this very same tavern a long time ago.

There are no choices, you are simply telling the game who you are.

I remember watching this scene for the very first time two summers ago, headphones on, halfway through the night, in a dark room lit only by my computer screen. It was like opening a portal to a magic world, not very unlike from the ceiling flying away in the video. One of the best gaming moments I have ever had, and which I'll definitely never forget.

The best part of KRZ, as portrayed by this and every other scene, is how the “choices” you make don’t change how the story would be told; instead they change the emotions behind the narrative, which in turn reflect your personality. Literature in pure form.

You only get to experience this moment in the game for the first time once, and that experience is something you will hopefully carry with you for the rest of your life

You know, I was like "Hrm... odd they are letting me choose this. Imagine it will just be text." Then the singing began and I was like "HOLY GOD THIS AMAZING!"

This scene is the most beautiful scene I have ever witnessed in a game

What’s interesting about this to me is that this is the first time you hear a voice in a long time, there’s so much reading and depth to this game, but when it gives us these short moments of human sound through this or the folk hymns, they just hit so much harder because of the silence that bookends them.

I wish this could be a 'picture" to hang on my wall. If someone looks at it for a while, it start moving and the song starts playing.

I'm totally in love with this scene: there's so much art and magic. The best thing is to realize that the choices I made during the song, actually talk more about myself than Conway and the others.

When I reached this part of the game I left earth, I was “in the game”. Forever one of the best gaming experiences for me.

I played this episode about an hour before the first episode of twin peaks season 3 launched .. the vibe of that evening was of the charts... It was cosmic

This song came up in my discover weekly on Spotify and I’ve been enjoying it for almost two years. Only now to realize it’s from a game and that the singer doesn’t have any other work for me to listen to (maybe someone can point out if I’m wrong) absolutely haunting song

Honestly, this game for me is one of the greatest video games ever made. It honestly believe it to be the greatest artistic expression I've ever seen in a game. The dreamlike mood is just incredible. To the creators of this game, I thank you for this waking dream you've given us on the Zero.

This scene is extraordinary. It had such an impact. I found myself anticipating the couple's song. The sequence far exceeded my expectations. This project is a work of art.

One of the most beautiful moments in gaming, wasn't expecting an interactive lyric choice

Anyone else regularly come and listen to this song? There's nothing quite like it.
