This has easily been one of my most requested videos. So finally after a lot of research, here it is. What happened to EB Games? The company everyone holds in such high regard. Sorry the new lens was a bit focus happy.

I was an EB Games store manager in California. It was the funnest job I ever had! Customers loved us because we had very high customer service standards. EB required sales training certification and invested in their employees. When Game Stop bought us out it was all over. Game Stop reduced assistant managers to minimum wage, removed our dress code, hired virtually anyone and took customers for granted. We were degraded. I quit and so did my whole staff with me. I miss EB and I know our wonderful customers do too.

I remember a EB Games and a Gamestop being in the same local mall at some point in my childhood, around the time GBA games were leaving the stores as used sales. After GBA games left these stores, I remember the EB Games Changing the name to a Gamestop in-store but leaving the EB Games sign up. Later, around a year at most, it closed, likely due to the redundancy of having two Gamestop's in the same mall. As a little kid, I prefered EB Games I think (I was REALLY young at the time, so don't remember well) because I got GBA games I liked there and not at Gamestop. Games like Wario Land 4, Hamtaro Ham-Ham Heartbreak, Froggers Adventures 2: The Lost Wand, Pokemon Emerald, and more. Nostalgia filled times.

I remember seeing EB Games around when I was younger and just thought they went out of business because of GameStop. Didn't know it was because they bought them out.

I actually do recall one time when the mall next to my town was getting remodeled and they had just opened up a place called electronics boutique. I went in there and yeah it had a RadioShack feel to it, but I think they use to sell Pokémon cards, batteries and other stuff. then I wanna say a year later they started selling video games like N64, PS1, Sega Dreamcast, the good old days in the late 90s and early 2000s

Great video nick, I was a big EB games customer and was very upset when GameStop bought them out. I actually remember buying PC games at EB and they did sell preowned PC games at a time. Thanks

Eb games seems to be more prominent in Europe/Australia basically every shopping centre has one located somewhere within

great video mate but one little correction. the Australian eb games don't have 4 cards, we have one card with 4 levels. the card gives a lot of bonuses like holding pre-orders for longer and trade in bonuses and the higher the level the bigger the bonus. it is free to get a level one card, you then need to buy stuff to level up the card. every time you buy an item you earn 1 carrot for every dollar you spend, when you reach a set amount of carrots you go up a level. it is a really good system to reward regulars and make them feel appreciated. our eb games actually don't want to rip off the customers as GameStop does, they trade fairly and earn their customers the right way. I have never felt played walking into EB games and actually almost always had a great experience.

I remember the days of Babbages, Electronics Boutique, Games & Gadgets, KayBee Toys, FuncoLand, Rhino-Games, The Dungeon Cave (local store back in the day) & Game-Force... I recall buying NES games (regardless of title) for $5 or three for $10. Damn, did I rack up on some truly hard to find shit by today's standards. Those were the good ole days & I greatly miss them:-)
