He's a charismatic machine. When I saw King Crimson in the last tour I was seated right in front of Gavin, having so many awesome musicians on stage to look at and I couldn't stop staring at him, the whole while I was like WTH?? non stop, everything he hit sounded outstanding!!
I have no ide how he does it! AND he wrote the parts for the other 2 drums also!!!

I’ve been watching drummers my whole life. At first I was impressed by speed, but now I’m more impressed by pocket and technique. I can listen to and watch a drummer play a relatively simple groove like this, and can instantly tell how good they are even from playing a simple beat. Gavin is astonishing.

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any drummer with the same kind of consistency that we see here. The closest runner-up to me is Steve Gadd. And yes, I could rattle off at least 20 REALLY GOOD drummers who are very close but not quite at the same level as Gavin when it comes to his laser-like timing, dynamic, and positional precision.
