I'm getting serious Umbrella Corporation and Wayland Yutani vibes from the subject of the video. She is saying, "If we cannot find alien life, we will make alien life inside of the lab by engineering organisms inside of the lab" sure, because that sounds like it could be used for malicious purposes or that things could go easily horribly wrong in the future.

Regarding the application of good scientific practice, creativity in developing methods for developing proofs to support hypothesis has always been a part of science, and of course to be admired. Where the creativity tends to go wrong is in the inferences that are put forward regarding unknowns, for example some of the statements in this video with regard to being able to theorize about life on other planets by observing earth. Those are without foundation and not good science. Humans have yet to be able to take the elements that make up life and recreate life in a lab experiment here on earth, and those are under controlled, not random circumstances. Just because we find some evidence of compounds in other solar systems that exist on earth and assuming that all that is needed is those elements for life to come about is a hypothesis that has never been demonstrated and is just plain bad science to make the leap to that assumption.
Rothschild mentioned being able to take different elements of life and be creative in building new variations. I agree that we're able to do this, but we should never forget that we're using life to begin with in these cases. Life has never been created by humans from inanimate compounds that don't previously contain life. Research it. For example the Miller experiment was a failure.
