Can anyone knowledgeable tell me why you would use this product when it seems to stop air flow? I mean, it makes the ridge vent turn in to "not a vent" and defeats the purpose. How do you keep bugs out when you want your shed ridge vent to actually breathe?

What's the matter that looks like a rubber rolled in between the vent and ten. Our house just got built and alot of bugs and (spiders and debris) leaves and such are in the attic. It's getting very dirty

I need a metal product to handle snow loads for ridge cap, plastic light emitting panels break every couple years and would rather flick on a light switch than deal with constant leakage...  Where is this product available?  Menards is our main option in our city..
