Contrary to a certain comment here, if you can afford a WF I will always recommend buying one. Correctly set, they are extremely versatile and extend well outside the traditional genres you might expect. Like any instrument they ofcourse reward deft hands and a good quality output chain; but to say you will be disappointed is utter nonsense. Out of my three most used Guitars; A Gretsch DC Falcon, Gibson LP and American Strat HSS - the Falcon is right up there, with a unique and distinct voice that isn't out of place anywhere. I thought I would put this in to counterbalance the other comment; but also to support Gretsch. They tend to get overlooked or banned into the 'rockabilly or go home' category and this simply isn't true. Search around, you'll soon find plenty of footage of what these can do. I haven't been able to go a day without playing my DC since 2012!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this White Falcon appears to be the lacquered model. Definitely a much more unique look compared to the standard white falcon models, in my opinion.

Saw Paul at the Zihuatenajo International Guitara Festival last week. You are right. He could make strings tied to a 2 x 4 sound good....

I got myself a Gretsch White Falcon Double-Cut a few years back on Ebay and it was totally crap! I got my guitar tech to do what he could to make it better, both his suggestions and mine, but it was too far gone. It had Filtertrons but it sounded much more like a Telecaster than a Gretsch. When I asked him about changing pickups for maybe some TV Jones versions, he said some Gretschs just sound like Teles. I took it to the guitar shop that sponsors me and put it up for sale on consignment. Within a couple of weeks someone (who obviously likes Gretsch guitars that sound like telecasters) bought it. And he's welcome to it! I've since put Gretsch-alike pickups in a couple of my Epiphone Sheratons and I now at least have guitars that sound like a Gretsch . . . .

Paul, I always assumed WF were a bit of 'show off' axes and concentrated on 6120s, especially with De Armond pu - mainly because an old love for Duane Eddy's twang. Now I listened to the variety of your sounds and would ask you for a professional comparison between 6120 and WF. Will you oblige?
