Some people have all of the skill, knowledge, and tools, but don't have this one key ingredient. Some fake having it while having none of the knowledge or skill. Every colorist needs it. Can you guess what it is?

Cullen is confident enough to colorgrade himself slightly underexposed. And it works good: i always turn up my volume to see him better😂

Realizing that you are on the peak of mount stupid is demotivating but also moves you into the valley of despair. The difficult part is to get out of that and end on a happy place

great stuff. i started as a total beginner, just playing with aces and basic grading. After 1, 5 years and making 24 short movies, the 25th was where i finally was confident and some what happy with the end result.

your videos have made the learning curve and my understanding of the craft so much more enjoyable so you have been my mentor.

for that im forever grateful. Thank you, Cullen Kelly 🙏🤝

Outside of learning new ideas and approaches to the craft, I always feel calm and soothed watching your videos. You have a natural ability to pump the brakes on anxiety and a natural ability to infuse a positive energy to 'go for it'! Thank you for doing what you do for this community.

Great lesson! I am an editor first, but I do and actually really enjoy color correction and grading, and I totally see it the same way. It's good to have a mentor.

Thanks a lot buddy, that was encouraging. You take the words out of my mouth. I haven't found any mentors in my area, just people like you on youtube. You, Darren, Daria, Casey, etc. I learn something new from everyone but sometimes I lose a little trust when someone does something I don't agree with.
I deal with it by looking at how multiple people do the same thing.

Always great advice. As a colorist I know this is important.

The simplicity of the Truth. And all so true. Trust (and the rest). Thanks for this true truth, Cullen.

I would say that I aquired necessary confidence through the course. It has led directly to business growth within the first 3 months.

My confidence comes from age and not caring what others think of my abilities or knowledge. I have told people that if Hollywood wanted me to move there, I would say "no thank you". I love learning and then paying it forward. I have had several careers, most of which has been self employed, and in or related to tech, and the arts. There has only been a few years where I worked for the paycheck.
The rest of the time - I basically did what I wanted to do. So if I come off arrogant, I apologize. I just love the tech, and learning. And of course I am confident. Confidence in my opinion, comes from realistic research, and logical explanations of why you do things. Which I believe that you, ( Cullen ) also believe, as when asked about almost anything, your answers to questions seem to come from, "Knowing why, and what, and the use of logic, and research to justify your opinions". And that's why I love your approach to teaching.

Very insightful video ! I feel like recently I've been able to grow my self confidence (which I always struggled with) and that translates into my collaboration with clients :)

I don't know if I would consider 200 people in a class "small".

Is there anywhere to find the content I may have missed? (For example, the Colorist career accelerator). I know it isn't live and I won't be able to interact, but it sounds like something I'd still get a lot out of just absorbing.

Hay cullen, finding a mentor is impossible, no one reaches out. Everyone moves only for money and there are things that the courses and studies do not teach. I wish it was that easy that someone would mentor us
