the single spartan unit in rome totl war seemed a bit tame, glad to see that the greek states are being divided up so we can feel the full awesomeness of the spartans. hopefully, they won't be too realistic to be badass.

It does to some extent but for the greater part the fun is very much there, even on a higher scale now with the huge cities.

But if you don't pre-order then you MAY be missing out on Athens, Sparta, Cyprus and other major Greek states around that time. I don't know if you remember but 2-3 years ago there were barely any pre-order bonuses but you would still do it to get the game early not just "oh look, you get a free map or double exp for a few hours, or some new super building-things (I can't remember the Sim City one)."

Macedonia is usually included in the base game. Going off of Rome Total War, the Greek representation came through Macedon and Greek States factions. I am assuming for Rome 2, the separated the Greek States into 3 constituent factions (Epirus, Athens, Sparta) for the dlc and left Macedonia in the base game.

I agree with you... I've been saving up a long long time looking forward to this. I still don't quite enough cause the exchange rate of the currency in my country to the USD is too horrible to imagine, but now I'm having second thoughts on whether or not I should bother....
