FIRST DRIVE: Achates Power 2 7L OP Engine

Check out one of the first drives of the 2.7L OP Engine Demonstration truck. This is the diesel version of this engine, our OP GCI will be installed later.
The 2.7L OP Diesel Engine in a light-duty pickup will achieve 42 MPG (CAFE Combined) and 37 MPG in the OP GCI.

Congratulations to the solid work. Swedish Co Sintercast is behind the CGI in the engine block. A true homerun when the various data will be confirmed in variuos tests at the many Truck Magazines. 44 mpg is just so good. Sounds powerful. In 2017 at Wards Auto: "In addition, Achates President and CEO David Johnson says some engine manufacturers are retooling plants in certain parts of the world to produce Achates’ opposed-piston engines or are investing in this conversion. Existing engine factories need only modest retooling, he says."
