I don’t always agree with Just Stop Oil’s tactics (as they alienate the wider public) but their arrest and now imprisonment with such disproportionate sentences, has turned them into Political Prisoners and this is a slippery slope to Fascism

I hope and pray that their appeal is successful

Boycotting Companies etc is a powerful non violent and peaceful protest

It is time to stop calling think tanks ‘think tanks’. Call them what they are - lobbying firms, paid by companies to promote and protect their own narrow interests.

I don't agree with Chris on HS2 but he's spot on here.

People wanting to stop corporate actions is one thing. Our society acting to stop people is…
…incorporated “bodies” having liberties lost to real ones.

So, you're not permitted to raise awareness to critical issues that affect us all equally but, you are allowed to pump raw sewage into the rivers, lakes and the sea around the country?
What's wrong with this picture?

well those 5 people stopped people getting to the hospital, and if I was stopped getting to the hospital I could have been in a really bad way now, as my wife drove me to A&E.... these muppets should protest at the offices to the fuel giants instead of disrupting all those people, my car would have been running in petrol (hybrid car) to keep things running, thus causing more environmental damage, they are stupid!

You talk rot if people know the m 25 is bad they find a nother route in time to get to an appointment they find another route but if some idiots just happen to do stupid things on the day then they can't find another route to get them to appointments on time you do talk rot .

Whats just stop oil going to moan about now that Labour have stopped all new licenses? I have been on the M25 plenty of times and never have issues of being delayed, like it caused of 6 hours!

In law, the why you protested is irrelevant it is the effect of your protest that matters. If these people had gone onto the gantries above the M25 to protest what they see as unsustainable levels of immigration, or the huge costs in, and policing of, the pro-Palestine protests each week in London or a range of government agencies turning a blind eye to the activities of South Asian child sex exploitation gangs, would the presenter and guest here be so sympathetic? I suspect not. In any of the cases as with JSO, I would have supported the prosecutions and applauded the sentences.

£100, 000 fines should have been imposed for the disruption and danger imposed on the public by JSO...
protest is one thing this was something else...

With no counter argument to Mr Packhams ideology, I found his arguments very one sided. I would suggest that matters associated with climate are properly debated in order that the public be made aware of all the relevant issues instead of only receiving zealots opinions.
