Text features, such as tables of contents, glossaries, and charts, help us get more information out of a nonfiction text. In this instructional video, Owen will explore some of the most common text features and how they are used to help readers understand a text better.

This video can be used when working with CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.2.5: "Know and use various text features (e.g., captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text efficiently."
and CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.3.5: "Use text features and search tools (e.g., key words, sidebars, hyperlinks) to locate information relevant to a given topic efficiently."
