A $400 Card is Being Reprinted in Commander Masters. Here's Why You SHOULDN'T Buy It.

It might be tempting to preorder cards like Capture of Jingzhou and Personal Tutor because their current price looks great compared to their pre-reprint price, but here's why you shouldn't be buying them...yet.

Exactly. The point of a reprint set is to NOT pay the inflated price of scarcity.

Even disregarding the usual "Wait after release" strategy, you don't really need Capture of Jingzhou specifically for anything other than flavour. You can literally get the same card in Time Warp for like 7-10€. If you want a more zesty version of the effect, Temporal Mastery is only like 5€ exact and for the budget-friendly option, Beacon of Tomorrows floats in the 1€ range for that 1 mana cost-hike. Even if you're fully commited to Chinese-tribal, I'd say Mu Yanling would pass off as that for 5€, even if it does take some extra work for that effect.

Thank you for the reminder Saf. Been wanting this card ever since I read it in Duel Masters manga, back when it was still an MtG manga. Shobu Kirifuda used it to gain many advantages to finally beat Mikuni, the P3K deck user. It was very memorable since this was THE deciding card that helped him won the game.

what if and hear me out okay.. we as a community recognize the original printing as the og and grew up and got over ourselves and still paid the 400 for the og, while paying cheaper prices for the reprints? no only i think of this? what if we stopped treating this like its an actual economy and just treated it like a game? no just me again?

Kinda wish this had gotten a new art piece alongside its other p3k brothers. Not that there's anything wrong with this one, I just love seeing modern versions of these cards.

Something to consider is that with the correct combo of cards its very possible to get either infinite additional turns or five additional turns from three mana or less. The best part of this is that you can easily have a situation where you start your turn draw twenty cards and get an additional turn every single turn and you haven't even cast anything yet. If you want to know the combo or deck lists please ask.

Its a word for word reprint of a 25 dollar card but with a different name

I'm happy they kept the orginal art this time. The previous reprints had new art that paled in comparison to their original printings.

Capture isnt played because of its scarcity. It would be played more than time wrap because it cant be redirected. It should hold a price much hihger than time warp just due to that fact that it will still have a much lower supply and almost always better than time warp. I should not go under 25.

Entirely correct, the price of capture is now down around $20

This is expensive not for play but because collectors of sets and old cards want the portal 3 kingdom version. This version is worth maybe 10% the original to me, the older card is a part of magic history
