Ironically the Sami are Uralic meaning they came after the Indo-Europeans so they are in fact less indigenous than most other Europeans. Even though indigenous Europeans that were here before the Indo-Europeans don't really exist anymore due to intermixing with their population, some of their languages like Basque still survived

Whenever I hear people call the Sapmi the “indigenous people of Europe” for brief moments, my political alignment goes from centrist to so far right it doesn’t appear on the spectrum.

First of all the Sapmi migrated into the region AFTER the Scandic peoples! They are LESS “indigenous” than Scandinavians in “their” own lands.

Secondly if I, as a Romanian, am not indigenous to Europe THEN WHERE THE FUCK AM I INDIGENOUS TO?!??!??!??? FUCKING AFRICA?!? Some Māori in New Zealand who got on boats 1000 years after my people’s ethnogenesis are “indigenous” to New Zealand but I’m a fucking occupier?!?!

All Europeans are indigenous to Europe. Fuck I hate when people say "the Saami are the only indigenous people in Europe". Indo Europeans have been in Europe just as long as the Saami. Hell, the Basques have been in Europe longer than both the Indo Europeans AND the Saami. So if the Basque are indigenous and the Saami are indigenous, then the Indo Europeans are indigenous as well since we've been here slightly longer than the Saami.

saami are no less indigenous than anyone else in the region. the norse and the saami both arrived in scandinavia during the late bronze age. arguably, you shouldnt even be calling saami more indigenously european than the norse since the ancestors of the saami are from all the way out in the urals and the norse originate from the pontic caspian steppe. beyond this they may even be distant cousins of same origin.
