Mine have no quality control issues and sound awesome at max volume. I keep hooking them up to more powerful / cleaner amps and they just keep taking it and sounding better when I didn't think it was possible.

I had AT12s back in the day, great speakers. I own a pair of VS100s that I rebuilt, pretty nice. I also own "new" SL15s. Pretty decent for the price, similar build quality, but the "MDF" is a better quality on the new ones. Which surprises me because the Gibson ones are made in China. Somewhere between the old chip board and actual MDF. Same cheap crossover, but a steel woofer is the only real knock comparing to the cast drivers on the better older models. XLS series has cast drivers but look like Pro DJ speakers. Thats why I got the SLs. I have found Cerwin-Vega! over the years to be really good in design but they defiantly cheapen out on boxes and crossovers. If you like Rock, Metal, Funk, Blues, Electronic then CV! is worth looking into. If you can find a set in good shape snatch them up if you don't like them they will sell fast. Gibson sold the company and us CV! fans are hoping for some new models thet can go toe to toe or beat the old ones. I won't hold my breath.

I slammed the neighbors windows in my neighborhood every day back in 1991 with a pair of AT15s and a cheap JVC receiver until Rent-A-Center wanted them back. They ate every watt the JVC could throw including dimming the display when the bass dropped, and ohhh boy did it drop!

I have had my At15s since 1994..and then u purchased a pair of the dx-9 s in 1997. and have smoked threw several amplifies. Then In the late 90s I purchases two Carver a500x..from circuit city. and they was a perfect match. Lotts of power and they took the vegas 4ohm load and gobbled it up. And just spit out more power. Haha. Those paired up to the carvers would Rock like no other!!. I mean they would Rock.. Just have to make sure you have the amps plugged into a outlet that would supply enough power. I would recomend a 20 amp line. Even tho they have a 15 amp Power cord. Power Makes Power.

My pink membranes flaked off my 4 AT-15s original surrounds, , I cleaned them up and completely off with a soft brush.the foam under is wonderful and I'm not re ringing them, just because the pinks gone, , they are igunal surrounds and I have four new ones to install, but the base foam is just great yet and the main foam anyway is for rebound performance, , pink skin is just a protector and looks

Disagree, my AT-15’s have excellent fit and finish, although I have the walnut variety, maybe you just got a lemon. Owned these for 25+ years and still sound great. New at Circuit City in S. Cal $700, wouldn’t sell for $1500! I did indeed have to refoam the woofers. Mine are like new!

I still have my D9'sand are fine. And when I was younger, I beat them to death constantly!, , those new ones did not keep up, lower quality parts woofers and cross overs failed constantly.were discontinued

I have a pair since late 1990's. They sound great especially if you listen to rock music mainly. But the build quality really sucks. One year into using them, one of them started rattling terribly. I removed the woofer to see what's going on and found out that one of the triangular corner braces (I don't know if this is the correct term) that secures the front side became loose. I couldn't take it off completely, so I had to apply some glue and then used screws to secure it. I did this to the other one too before it became a problem. Apart from this, I had no other issues since then. I still use them with a Sony TA-F530ES amplifier which is a bit underpowered for the beasts, but more than enough.

Cerwin-Vega is a guilty pleasure of mine. I KNOW they're not that accurate. I KNOW other speakers beat them at... just about everything. But, darn it, they're a fun speaker to listen to! They're the Van Halen of speakers to me: overblown, over the top, good time party rock and roll speakers. I still want a pair, despite all their faults for "serious" listeners.

I run my CVs AT-15s off a Behringer Europwer EP 4000- specs Watts/Side @ 4 ohms: 950W RMS. and my CV RE30s off a Adcom GFA555II -325 watts per channel into 4 Ω, Both amps are driven by Adcom GTP 500II the Europower off Norm and the Adcom off Lab outputs. Streaming from PC with a Shciit DAC. The sound when playing Dire Straits is amazing much more than words can say. The speakers take everything I throw at them. This is unheard of power for the AT-15s as well as the RE 30s. Once I see the Red Clip light I stay there briefly and back off. I can play these volumes for hours on a Flat setting contour off. Yes the cops been here many times. The EP4000 does throw off some heat and the fan is noisy more than I would like. I have been able to fix the fan noise distraction by turning the volume knob carefully upwards just a little. Trust me it works. My AT-15s give my Klipschorns a good fight for a fraction of the cost.

I had the CV M-100'S 12" Woofer and 2 drivers and 2 tweeters. They rocked. Powerd by a S.A.E A1001 Amp.
