I friggin love Brad's Pixies reactions. He thinks doesn't get it....but he sees the humor, which means he totally gets it

Of all bands for Brad to like, I would have never predicted The Pixies. Doolittle is a top five album for me.

The guitar in this song doesn't sound like Nirvana. Nirvana's guitar sounds like Pixies. You don't get more influential in the alternative genre than Pixies.

Their guitars sound a lot like Nirvana, because Kurt Cobain said he wanted a band that sounded like the Pixies. 😊 This song (and the album it's on) inspired Cobain and a lot of other grunge and rock music that followed. They were/are so influential!

For those of you that don't know, this song was made in 1988. It's 80s alternative rock leading to the 90s alternative rock that we've come to love.

"Rock Me Joe", Joe proceeds with one of the most underwhelming yet magnificent solos in history. Pixies Rule!

Pixies are one of those bands that made people change the way they thought music could sound like. Please do Gouge Away.

I love it when Brad cracks up. Pixies are definitely a vibe for him!

"Their guitar kind of sounds like Nirvana". Lex has a very good understanding of music. Very close, if there was no Pixies their probably wouldn't have been a Nirvana as we know them. Curt credited The Pixies with their sound. David Bowie said that The Pixies were one of the most important bands in generations.

whoever is curating your 90s alt rock is doing a great job-maybe a little dino jr? in the future

First of all, this video got the line wrong, it's not an "...underwater guy", it's an "...underwater god" Poseidon was killed by ten million pounds of sludge from New York and New Jersey. The whole in the sky is the Ozone hole. The song is about mans negative effect on the environment. Pixies songs all have understandable meanings, the lyrics are just presented in an abstract manner.

The alternative and indie stream was so fun and diverse. Need to do it again later on. Pixies influenced a lot of bands in '90s and '00s, including Nirvana. Brad loves Pixies! So cool 😎 Sonic Youth is going to rub off on him later, too. Also an influence on Nirvana. They were under the same record label Sub Pop Records and toured together on concerts. These groups were punk rock inspired and good bass guitars. Pixies is like surf punk. Brad next Pixies video to see is "Gouge Away"! Also "Gigantic", "Caribou", "Debaser", "Alec Eiffel", "Velouria", "No 13 Baby". Look more into The Breeders, too. Kim Deal's 2nd group during the '90s. Shes the bass guitar player and backup singer for Pixies. All these groups were big on college radio and alternative radio stations back then late '80s, early '90s. MTV videos on alternative music shows. Music like this became mainstream later on during the '90s and '00s.

Lex's Pixies imitation of "If the Devil is 6, then God is 7" was spot on and hilarious .. Love it !!! ❤

The pixies are like that. It doesn't make any sense at all usually, but you still want to listen to it. The guitar parts and strings in the background are pretty intricate in this song too.

When we were getting forced bad hair bands in our ears and eyes from radio and TV. . This was the alternative we had back in the late '80s and others like Pixies, REM, RHCP, Sonic Youth, Janes Addiction, B-52s, or other punk, new wave, R&B/funk, and early hip hop and some pop. We liked this. Then the alternative rock and hip hop became popular mainstream in the '90s, we needed that!

I immediately thought this guy gets it. No one knows what it means and it doesn't matter. It's funny and still manages to deliver.

Never in all of music would you find somone willing to scream THEN GOD IS SEVEN with such unhinged passion and intensity. lol. Such a bizarre song and so awesome.

"I was trying to write the ultimate pop song. I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it.” Kurt Cobain.

Pixies and Sonic Youth were my favorites in that era

I feel like this song deserves some cultural context, back in the day when I was a kid in the 80's and even for quite a while before that New York and New Jersey used to dump all our trash in the ocean just huge heaping barges all day every day so that explains that part. Also there used to be a hole in the sky, we had a massive hole in the ozone layer that would pass over South America and by all reports when the hole was passing over things got so hot people were hallucinating.
