Adventure Time is Officially An Adult Cartoon Now

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake is an upcoming Max Original. While Adventure Time's new spinoff is a more mature spin on the classic show, Warner Bros Discovery is now marketing it alongside adult cartoons like Harley Quinn, Velma, and Clone High. With Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake not coming to Cartoon Network, what does this mean for the audience?

Givin the direction _Adventure Time_ went as it went on, and the fact that most people watching _Fiona and Cake_ will have probably seen the original, this just feels right.

Adventure Time went from a rookie as a pilot episode that was originally made on Nickelodeon to a veteran as one of the iconic shows on Cartoon Network, now moving on to Adult Swim.

It looks like the fun will never end in Adventure Time after all.

EDIT:with the trailer that has come out recently it would seem like this old concern of mine was misplaced and looks like it’s still like classic adventure time

Edit 2:so yeah it’s safe to say with the official trailer that this will basically just be more of what we expect from something in the world of adventure time just an amazing looking show

Since Fiona and Cake was originally part of the ‘kid show’ Adventure Time does this mean Simon’s/The Ice King’s fanfictions have gotten *_spicier_* with time

I have to admit, it’s good to see animation tackling more mature themes once again rather than staying “all kiddy”

But let’s not forget the younger animation fans deserve some cartoons suitable for them too (Still mature, just not inappropriate. There’s a difference)

It would be weird though if the “adult humor” wasn’t understated and subtle like it is in the main show. If it’s more like Distant Lands, though, I would adore more things like that.

It's been a wild ride to see that this show has made an impact on everyone here, there and everwhere! :D I grew up along side Adventure Time from Middle School & into near middle of College! If I have kids I wanna show em just how much of an impact this show had on me when I was 13 and onward!!!

This wasn't the first time I have heard of Adventure Time being re-aimed to an adult demographic. Even if what I might be thinking has more to do with Adventure Time being on [adult swim] for a short time in 2018. But this direction is going into god tier levels of good direction!

If I had a nickel for every time a Cartoon Network show was turned into an adult cartoon, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

I never had much interest in Adventure Time when it was still on Cartoon Network, but I’m sure my older sibling would love to see the one on Max.

This makes me remember of how Dark and Terrifying Adventure Time was like ones with the Deer, Nurse Clowns and The Guardian Angel..

Also Agreed, it's for the Best to not talk about Velma at all...

I honestly find this stuff pretty disappointing. All the good kids cartoons are being either cancelled or turned into adult cartoons. Kids nowadays deserve some good action and story based shows nowadays too and I’m pretty tired of everything either being targeted towards grown adults or really young kids. There’s not much cartoons targeted towards a more in between audience like younger teens around now and it feels like any new cartoon with even the slightest amount of mature themes is now considered adults only.

I think you nailed exactly what kind of shows they seem to be starting to put out: not “inappropriate” or vulgar or specifically NOT FOR KIDS, but made for either older kids or younger kids who just….want to watch a cartoon that has an ongoing story in it. Aka, EXACTLY MY FAVORITE KINDS OF SHOWS (Infinity Train was a perfect example of that kind of show if that makes more sense).
I really really hate it how all or most “adult cartoons” have no real story and are just inappropriate joke after inappropriate joke, so I am loving how this change is going so far:):)
