Yea, a year ago it seemed like everyone was rooting in sphagnum and it was just "the best" way to root your cuttings. In the meantime, I was just killing cutting after cutting! Mostly I had issues with the roots, and sometimes the stems, ROTTING😰 I tried a few different things to stop that from happening, but it just wasn't working out, so when PERLITE propagation came along I was ready to try ANYTHING else!...Its been amazing! They root faster, the roots are stronger, and they're just as easy to switch over to soil!👍 Aside from a few plants that I root in water, EVERYTHING else get the perlite!❤

Unlike sphagnum, which retains too much moisture for the roots if the cutting is placed in soil, perlite will not hold excess moisture. So you can safely pot up your cuttings without attempting to remove it. So, you get less disturbance to your roots and less work for you--win-win in my book! Thanks for taking us on your journey. I feel I've learned quite a lot from watching. :)

Just revisiting your hoya videos. What I have been doing different, even though it's an extra step, is acclimating my cuttings separately and then adding them to the existing plant. I just bought the hoya polyneura albomarginata and this spring/summer I plan to do this method along with the heating mat thanks to you!

I just got this Hoya which was a wish list plant. My fav Hoya right now. So pretty and yours is going to be full in no time.

I've actually rooted my polyneura directly in water and had 100% success rate. I think they're one of the easier hoyas to root!

I just propagated my polyneura also. I placed it inside a humidity tent with soil for 1 week and it had very long roots. Now just waiting for new growth 🌿

I finally repotted my hoya polyneura cuttings at the end of last month. Unfortunately, I just discovered i lost two cuttings probably because I didn't water them in time. But my other cutting which has two growth points is doing very well. Well you live and you learn. Plus I still have 3 more cuttings propagating.

I would have put them in a different pot then combined. Just me but I don't like to mix old and new cuttings. Your "Mother plant is" beautiful

Interested to see your update. I thought the main plant looked great on its own, and I understand your goal but to be on the safe side I think I would have started a new pot and then combined once they established their roots in soil. I just added pothos cuttings to an existing plant but the pot was large to begin with and had lots of available space so I did not move the main plant. I don’t know why pothos are not easy for me as they are for most people

I think your YouTube name should be teacher. Your videos are so informative. And you even use a pencil. Thank you for sharing all your information with us 😀

Do you let this hoya dry out ALL the way before watering or water before that?

If I'm moving cuttings to soil, I'll put the pot in a plastic container or bag to maintain the humidity before slowly acclimating to indoor humidity. It seems like the way to go when the cuttings grew roots in a perlite humidity chamber. 🤷‍♀️ I think it depends on the species though.
