A multiplayer game where I will probably never see another person. Sounds like my kind of game.

It's fun to binge watch these old videos and see how the game changed in 5 years, it's awesome yet nostalgic

I've always wanted a game based around the simple pleasure of travelling and observing without a mission goal etc, and this seems to be everything I've always longed for. This is what I would call truly next gen, thinking out of the box.

All of these videos makes this game look amazing. If the devs screw this up it may just be the most devastating disappointment in gaming history.

Already has a dislike and the video's only been posted for a minute. Someone out there is being petty. Stop that.

what would break my mind completely is if on one of this planets there is an actual living civilization that was procedural generated by the algorithm - and even the devs dont know about it

I like the fact that Sean is putting himself out there. I like the fact that he says he includes himself as a programmer working on NMS, when he could have just as easily said, I am the founder and ceo of Hello Games. So I can tell he's genuine, he's being humble and he seems like an all-around good guy. And I think that will make for 110% effort to bring us a true to life universe.

Will some planets have different layers? Say, a planet is covered in ice and snow that doesn't seem to support life, but when I dig deeper, I'll find a hidden ocean beneath it full of marine animals?

Anyone who fears that they will "screw this up": remember that regardless of whether or not they execute this vision in a satisfying way, remember that they have added something to your life and to the gaming ecosystem that did not previously exist. Everyone's enthusiasm comes from a wonderful place of excitement and wonder, by which we recognize deeply that there is something very, very special about what they're doing. Don't let that wonder curdle; even if it doesn't live up to your expectations, it's opened new doors - for a whole new genre of game, systems that other games could use, and for a kind of interaction with other PCs that a lot of us really crave. Don't worry; Be happy!

All of this for No Man's Sky and people gave Chris Roberts over 85 million dollars over 3 years ago and all he can come up with are a few barely working modules and a more stretch goals.

Imagine what Hello Games could have achieved with that foundation.

For online it would be awesome if there was a random massive space station where everyone first spawns before venturing out

Who else would like to see small companion animals.

Does that mean our planet was automatically generated too, as part of a computer game? God didn't create us, it was Maths!
I understand now.

They could put so many cool little Easter eggs and references in this game. Like somewhere in that universe they generate a solar system the same as ours with Earth and Mars and stuff.
